I think that if Hillary can't convince the party to nominate her, she'll damn the Obama campaign with faint praise (so as to avoid the sore loser/enemy of the party label), sit on the sidelines, hope McCain wins and hope to be the nominee in 2012.
To be fair, that's also what I think Obama will do if, for whatever reason, he is not the nominee.
The difference is that Hillary seems to be playing for a McCain victory already.
That, again, is part of what I think will have Dem bigwigs who actually care about the party thinking twice about whether tying any more of their future to the Clintons is worthwhile. Clinton prominence helps them and people they can directly give favors to, but it doesn't create any kind of rising tide that can be counted on to lift all Democratic votes.

Even though the two pretty much agree on all of the major policy issues, somehow this has become a battle for the soul of the DNC. On one side we've got the neoliberal Clintons representing the Democratic Leadership Council. On the other side we have Obama representing....what exactly? People like Hart are picking sides, and when the choice is presented as Hart does I agree with him. But this is still really a TACTICAL issue rather than a SUBSTANTIVE issue.

y'all need to read your Temple3.....,
Obamamandius has substantial funding from a billionaire British Iraqi expatriate (with a decided strategy for getting at that oil) and, he's pulling Zbigniew's Chess Board foreign affairs strategy which focuses on control of Central Asia and is strikingly at odds with what T3 says is the underlying foreign affairs approach represented by Billary Inc. and clearly at odds with the warsocialist fustercluck perpetrated by G-Dub at all.

Classic use of the Dirty Harry iconography Sub, but at this juncture, I would've used the first iteration involving the brother just after the botched bank heist.

Cnu, I did consider that. Dr. Spence I agree that this is theater, but I love Shakespear and the Clintons are giving a performance worthy of spinning off into a reality TV series. What I'm awed by is how Hillary Clinton is becoming everything that she accused Obama of: a pathetic, weak little figure unfit to lead; an untrustworthy individual who makes you wonder how in the hell did they reach their position and what do her supporters see in her to believe that she could actually be POTUS.

Glad you linked to the Gary Hart piece at HuffPost. One of the best things I've seen from a professional Democrat since this race got nasty.
Keep punching, Submariner.
