Unfortunately, there are some job where, yes, the designer clothes are necessary; start buying off the rack and the clients notice. The clients notice and as stupid as it is, they judge. You lose business.

I'd never want to be in the position where I had that much to lose... The higher you have to fall from, the less likely it is you'll land on your feet.
