Hi Sue,
Regarding the dewatered arm of the canal - they reopened the Hudds Narrow, which involved tunnelling under some biuldings which had been built on top and other novel approaches - like removing some locks and changning the depth of others...
Mind you they did get a phenomenal boost from the lottery fund.... I don't suppose the Bucks has that sort of support

Glad you like the non yellow Ron!... yes, well there are a lot of canals on the go that are dry beds at the moment, for sure the Buckingham Canal would be struggling for cash... seems 'through' routes are popular. One to watch is the link between Abingdon on the Thames to the Kennet and Avon Canal. Of course this would be very lucritive... a handy round route for a 2 week exciting holiday in the offering.
Up and back defunked waterways will always struggle to find the necessary cash.
