Gravatar HI Sue,
There is a crossing just like that on the river that flows past Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire - The Wear I think?
And yes, it is a shame that BW haven't maintained that one....

Gravatar Marion,

Always nice to hear from someone so far away... glad you enjoy. I hope you like the look of our wonderful countryside here in England enough to come and visit one day

Ron,

Yes a pity... but here on the Nene it is the Environment Agency that look after the waterway. They do a grand job on flood control, that is very obvious, and goodoh too. But I wish they would give BW the job of maintaining facilities and moorings.... but that apart... your comment about the stepping stones...

Yes I wish they would 'mend' them, it was just so unique as you can probably see in the pic. The signs for the diversions look as if they have been in place a very long time. The stream is yet another 'split' of the Nene, so I suppose the EA maybe should maintain it, but as it is the Nene Way, then maybe Northants Rights of Way should fix it? Or maybe the Council? or maybe the Parish?

This is probably why nobody has put in a few stones to complete the route... just who is gonna own up to it being 'their' problem... such is 2005!
