I'm glad you are free from the nightmare of blanket weed.... how do the EA get rid of it? rake it out or just wait for it to die?
Could they get some flame throwers and burn it away?

Well the EA don't have a weed clearer to be able to deal with the stuff.. it's like National Rail with their "leaves on the track" problems... The only machine that can deal with this type of weed is owned by The Cams Conservators, who manage the the upper stretches of the River Cam.. According to our hero the other day, that machine "might" be used in July. It actually cuts it from the bottom of the lode and chucks it up on the bank.. presumably like those big machines that deal with small branches and twigs that when fed, spew them out as chippings!

Good thinking, but the weed grows from the bottom, and spreads out once reaching the surface!
