Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

Gravatar When I was in college I used to frequent a pub called The Banbury Clock. A few months ago when I was reading Tom Rolt's book "Narrow boat" he wrote about hearing the clock chiming in Banbury while he was working in the boat yard remodelling his narrowboat. I was wondering if you can still hear the clock chime from the canal? Best regards,

Mark

Gravatar Yes Mark, the clock can still be heard in Banbury.. It sure was busy when we left there the other day as in the pic. We were back there yesterday, in the centre, and there was not one boat moored!!

Gravatar Hi Sue

On Ownerships discussion group someone has just posted that on the Ashby they saw signs on the 48 hour moorings that no dogs were allowed. As youselves and Moore to Life were there recently and did not mention it I assume that these notices have been put up very recently and as a fellow dog owner I am not very pleased at all and hope that this is not going to be a common occurance on moorings.

I'm enjoying the recent blogs relating to the Oxford canal as I will be there later this year as NB Omega is to be based at Fenny Compton this summer.

Regards

Val Blundell

Gravatar Hi Sue

Been a long time since your last post - hope you, Vic, Lucy and NP are OK. How is this cold snap affecting you - are you iced in?

Gillian

Gravatar Hello Val,

No, we didn't see any signs of that sort on the Ashby.. Sometimes at marinas and boatyards they don't like the dogs to get off the boat.. is ok we just do as people wish.

But if I saw a British Waterway visitor mooring sign with 'No Dogs Allowed" I am afraid I would uproute the sign and put it at the bottom of the canal.. Oh as long as BW had dredged it of course!!

Gillian,

Yes iced in on most mornings this week, but the sun has been glorious. Just took a slight break from the blog trying to catch up on some projects I am involved in. Trouble is Gillian, I try to put in more hours in a day than there really is... I forget I am spose to be retired now!!
