The pub at Flecknoe was very welcoming a few years ago, don't know if it ahs changed hands since. My partner Steve and I were moving a friends boat and were running out of daylight and food. We decided to stop near the bridge leading up to Flecknoe,a quick call to the pub to find out what time they stopped serving food revealed we were too late. They kindly offered to rustle up a curry for us though, for which we were grateful-good service or what!

Well Jools you obviously had better luck at Flecknoe than we had at the Stanley Arms near to the Anderton Boat Lift recently. We arrived at 6.45 pm bought a drink and sat down looking at the menu only to be told that they had stopped serving at 6.30 as it had been so quiet that the chef had gone home although they usually serve until 7.00 pm. Shortly afterwards meals were brought out to some customers sat nearby so obviously the chef was still on the premises! It cost us 10.00 pound in taxi fares to find another pub serving food. Needless to say I won't be recommending The Stanley Arms to anyone.
Sorry to hijack Sue's comments page but thought that this information may be of use to other boaters.
