Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

If it is any consolation regarding the mink, otters are making a comeback and they hunt and kill mink, being both better sighted and better equiped in the nose department as well.... I suspect that when the otters declined it was environmental factors rather than predation by mink which did the damage.
I heard that tit bit on Radio 4 a couple of years ago where some otter warden or other was commenting about the rapid decline in mink numbers whilst his otter population was increasing.....
I hope Lucy is recovering and tolerating her cage rest - given that she used to love walking along with the boat I guess she must be quite frustrated now.
All the best

Thanks to you all for your good wishes.. Vic is fine for now, and Lucy too. Today she was using that hip and putting weight on the leg, good news all round
Let's hope our otters and other small animals can really make a difference to the increasing mink. It would take an animal as big as an otter to concern the mink, that is the worrying part. Weasels and smaller animals like the water vole have no chance.
