Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

Gravatar To me it looks like a lorry. Anyway I love your pictures and blog.

greeting from Holland

Gravatar Looks like a lorry to me too. You must be having a great time exploring the Ouse and the Little Ouse. The pictures of the area are just terrific, and it sounds like you are seeing a lot of interesting wildlife. Glad to hear the Lucy is out and about. Per your question on the plantations, we visited the Shirley and the Berkeley plantations. They both originally grew tobacco, which was primarily sold to customers in England. Now they grow wheat, beans and corn. I think I must be on winter time when you post the blogs every few days. I don't seem to be able to keep up with all of these terrific postings. Thanks for the time you put into the pictures and the writing as I really enjoy both. Best wishes,

Mark

We are the mad people who took two weeks to move our boat from Newbury to the Ouse. we moor not that far from where you are now, at Pope's Corner, at the junction with the Cam.Let us know when you are going to be in the area and perhaps we could meet up. we haven't broken up from school yet but are usually at the boat over the weekends. Its only 35 minutes from home.
Glad you are enjoying our East Anglian sunshine and the peace and quiet.
Gail

Gravatar Alex, Thanks for your comments, glad you are enjoying the blog.. a lorry you say.. OK then

Mark, you have gone for a lorry too, OK

Very interesting about the change of use of the plantations.. so does that mean that the UK are not smoking as much? Or maybe it is ME not smoking so much has changed the use!! Well No Problem is still smoke free.. both of us giving up the cancer sticks back in March.. phew I do miss a puff still though

Plenty for you to read at the moment Mark, we are on the move!!..

Gail, How could I forget your question to me.. "Sue do you think we can get our boat from K&A to Popes Corner in 2 weeks?"... my answer was basically "No way!".. but you did!!!!

Looking at my itinerary, Popes corner is passed on the way to Reach on Wednesday next, then again on Friday, in fact we will probably stop there next Friday night.. No doubt we will be in for a pint.. be nice if you joined us for one?

The Fish and Duck pub is closed at the moment. They are going to knock it down and build a new one as far as I know. Also GOBA don't have any mooring rights there any more, the marina have taken back the moorings outside the pub.
It would have been great to meet up on the Friday but I'm doing the catering for a BBQ in Ipswich on Saturday and should be up to my elbows in puds and salads on Friday evening!
Are you going down to Cambridge? There was a bit in the GOBA mag this week saying that they have reinstated some of the visitor moorings as of now.
Sorry about Friday. I'll keep track of your travels.

Gravatar Gail, Thanks for the info about the Fish and Duck being closed, I didn't know that. I did know about the GOBA moorings having gone from the corner there.. they were gone last year when we went past..

and yes I did hear that the visitor moorings at Cambridge have been reinstated.. bloomin good job too!!..

I have no doubt we will meet up at some time this summber Gail.. Hey don't work too hard this weekend

Gravatar Hi all,
Could I stick my pennyworth in on the lorry/boat debate? I'm sure it's a lorry, and it looks like a pre-war AEC, with the style of body that the council used to have for the 'night-soil men'. There's a thought

Gravatar Hello Martin..

Well under the water there is definitely a hull in the shape of bows and stern. Vic said it may well be that a pre-war lorry cab could have been welded on the top, so you are sort of half right me thinks!!

Gravatar Curouser and curiouser - as Alice said
