Hello Sue& Vic,
So glad to read this morning that you have overcome all your recent problems and particularly that Lucy is on the mend. I enjoy your blog enormously,I packed up boating last year (at 73 I felt it not wise to continue single handed and its getting more expensive every year!)so your blog is the next best thing!
I remeber reading that you were going down to the K&A for the winter and wonder if you were going via the Oxford. The reason I ask is because I made myself a ratchet windlass and have no more use for it and would be very pleased to give it to you if you would like it. I live near Cropredy so would see you there but am going away on Saturday for a couple of weeks and could no doubt leave it at the stores for you to pick up if you get there before (if you are going that way)
Look forward to hearing from you
Alexander

Hello Sue & Vic
Glad to hear things are mended, and that Lucy it also on that list.
We were at our NB last weekend, and I did think about calling in again when we went to Ely.
But we had the dogs again, so decided to spare you that.
I will keep an eye on the blog. All the best, and nice to have met you both & Lucy.
Bye
Kevin & Debbie

Dear Sue and Vic,
I was wondering if you are familiar with the program "Google Earth." It is a free download and allows you to key in an address and the program zooms in on the location you have entered. For example I keyed in the address of our store, 850 Airport St., Moss Beach, Ca. and I could even see my car parked in the lot.
This morning I keyed in Ely, Great Britain, and was able to follow the river up to the two marinas and even see the narrowboats in their slips. Was surprised to see that Ely is a pretty large town. Thought you might like to try this program if you haven't used it before.
Glad to hear you are on your way to the K&A. You should still have enough time to get up into the canal before the closures. Hope this is the end of your mechanical and electrical problems. Have a great trip.
Best wishes,
Mark

Glad to hear you're on the move again, well done.

As you will be coming through Peterborough might be a good time to fill up at Peterborough Yaught Club (just upstream of Orton Lock). Two weeks ago they were selling diesel at 50p a litre, available to non members as well.
We went for some but they had sold out but should have more by now. Perhaps give them a ring to check when someone with the pump key will be there? (PYC Clubhouse 01733 231170 usually someone there lunchtimes I believe). Our next trip from Yarwell where we are moored (Ellisiana, just after the Mill Lock) was upstream so had to get it at Oundle Marina 59.9p last week !
Best wishes
Michael

Alexander,
You must be really missing your boating a lot, and I am so glad you are enjoying the blog as you do. I am absolutely amazed at the thought of a ratchet widlass, Vic said he would love to take a look at that and use it... thank you so much for your offer, we would love to actually use it especially as you made it yourself, we feel very honoured Alexander.
I think we may well be past Cropredy after you come back from your two weeks away.. I didn't do a itinery yet.. I do hope so, I really would like to meet you..
Kevin and Debbie,
I really enjoyed chatting to you both.. wish you had popped by again.. next year then for sure!.. Good luck with your narrowboat.. Debbie, I hope you get what you want, I am sure you will.. get Kevin to do a bit more wheelin' and dealin'!!
Dick and Netty,
Not necessarily you two, I think we have been a bit unlucky, but everyone who plans to spend their life onboad a narrowboat should ensure they have lifelines like generators and battery chargers at hand just in case.. for us it worked.. was OK, just a bit annoying having enough power for a fridge and just one light.. but it worked!!
Told Chas and Ann that NB Moore2Life had a mention in Waterways World.. Ha they bought Canalboat this month and not the other one!!..
I didn't see it either.. please enlighten us, we won't get to see a copy 'till we get to Oundle..
Mark,
Yes Google Earth I have seen and do have it on my computer, but my connection to the mobile phone company is not up to downloading it. I looked at Google Earth last Christmas when visiting family and using broadband.
If you look on my link on the left of the blog "Where we are now" that sort of pinpoints our mooring.. you can zoom in on that, or take the co-ordinates from the url to put into Googlemaps to see our position from there..
Thinking of your Mark, enjoy your trip next week.

Mo and Vanessa,
Peterborough eh? Surprised you didn't push on to Ferry Meadows.. still that will give us a chance to catch up.. we will be at Ferry Meadows on Saturday all being well.. 3g? Heh, I have 3g here in Denver!
Michael,
Thankyou for that very useful information... I decided to fill at Ely before leaving at 55p a litre!!
Darn.. Never mind I will make a note for next time we visit the Nene.. I wanted to fill up so I didn't have to stop at Oundle Marina for the very reason you stated, plus, they charged me a wacking £20 for 13k of gas!!
Michael thanks..
Les, Ha yes I WENT INTO Tesco at Ely.. they had a lot of mispriced meat on the shelves and they had to give me my money back on all that I bought, Plus I got to keep the meat.. the freezer is full!
Just picked up a home delivery a couple of hours ago here at Denver... I don't do 'carry potatoes'
