Hi Sue, I can't remember if it was on NP or on M2L that you had pumpkins displayed on the roof last Halloween. Will there be any pumpkins this year?
Looks like some rest is in order, and hope you enjoy a day or two off after the trip down the Thames.
I've been thinking of getting a Nicholsons of the K&A to keep track of your travels this winter. Will let you know.
Have a great day,
Mark

Yes Mark it was NP you saw the pumpkins last year, in fact it was at Heyward Junction on the Trent and Mersey Canal.
And yes, we did have pumpkins this year too.. when Wendie and the family visited last week we did the pumpkins.. but we woke one morning to find them totally collapsed on top of the boat, and I had not taken pics.. sad after all the work the grandchildren had put in cutting out the devilish faces
The Nick guide to the K&A also incorporates the River Thames and in fact all the southern waterways, its a good buy.. try ebay, or amazon for second hand copies.. You don't really need to buy a completely up to date one, nothing much has changed over the last few years on this canal!!

Mmmm... a common problem sue caused by too much mush being taken out the pumpkin and leaving the walls paper thin.

James,
I think it was because they got a bit wet.. I did fetch them in, but they collapsed.. I just wish I had taken a couple of photos before they did!

But did you know WHY the Waterways grant was decimated?
The Rural Payments Authority, (another part of D.E.F.R.A.), had run into huge problems and cost over-runs, including paying it's ex-chief some £150,000 p.a. while being suspended; so the money had to be clawed back from somewhere, so the canals got chopped!
Don't you just love this government?
