Hi Sue
I have a share in Omega, its managed by Ownerships, it's the smallest (45ft) and is the only one of around 100 boats which does not have a stove (although the central heating works fine). I had only been on a narrowboat once before and so overlooked this when I viewed prior to the purchase of my share. I am very happy with Omega but if I had the option again would choose a boat with a stove because of the occasional out of season cruising. How well does the wood burn compared to coal and about how much do you think that it costs over 12 months to run the stove?
ps. love the photographs.

We finally put down a deposit on a build slot! Fit-out begins in June. Thanks for helping to keep the dream current.

I hope it’s not turned out to be such a disappointment that you can’t bear to tell us.

Val,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you.. I love to burn the wood, it smells so nice.. coal is fine though to keep topping it up. It really does depend on how active we feel as to whether we gather wood or not.. cost over the year to run the stove errrrrrrr I don't keep a log of that, but I guess about 40 bags a year at anything from between £5.50 and £7.00.. but mostly nearer the £6 mark. The rest is made up of wood for free.
Bearing in mind, I tend to have the fire on when it doesn't need to be.. I just love the fire on, and it's not unusual for it to be still on in May!
Andrew,
That is wonderful news, bet you can't wait now.. congratulations!
To everybody else,
I am really sorry to keep you on tenderhooks, but you will all have to wait a bit longer yet.. it just hasn't happened for me to tell you!!
