Hello Sue & Vic
Yep it can be a bit of a Bu**er I am told. I have to do it soon, assuming NB ever gets moving again.
Of course being over 62 feet you have to wait for level water. I can't see how they do a 62 footer as I am 60 and they only just got the V gates open with a bit of giggiling.
Might see you at Ely.

Dear Sue and Vic,
That was quite an exciting turn you made onto the Ouse. I know that feeling of loss of control in a tidal flow. Once nearly hit a tower on the Golden Gate Bridge when my boat "Imagine" was pulled toward the tower by an ebb tide.
Well diesel fuel here is $5.60 per gallon. I though that was outrageous compared to your 90 pence per litre. Then I did the litre/gallon conversion and the dollar/pound conversion and it's actually a bargain. When your diesel fuel goes up later this year it will be sky high. Hope you'll be able to keep cruising!
We're all doing fine, and hope you are too.
Best wishes,
Mark

Hi, Your blog is brilliant! Nice turn! I'm about to move my own floating heaven onto the Great Ouse. You don't know where I can find a list of height clearances for the guillotine gates and bridges, do you? The Environment Agency just look at me blankly! Thanks in advance and keep up the blogging!

Dot & Derek, Kevin, Mark and Emma.....
Dot and Derek,
Glad to see you are on the move again and got to the water we are on.. hardly moving!.. Seems we are just arriving on the River just as you are leaving though... pity..
Kevin,
Was OK, just I didn't want to spend the night on the sand!!
Hope to see you soon xx
Mark,
Not quite 'loss of control'more 'don't want to spend the night in the sand'!... but narrowboats are odd, you are never sure what they are going to do, they seem to have a mind of their own!
We are already making a lot of savings on our diesel, pity we didn't in the past, but good that we are for the future, it will be required to be thrifty Mark to keep the costs down as much as we can..
Emma,
Glad you are enjoying the blog.. I wouldn't worry about the height of those, as long as your narrowboat is 'normal' you will get under them just fine.. the bridges on the Middle Levels are lower.. you might need to get under them first!!
