Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

We are paying something in the region of £1.29 a litre for white diesel, with all the extra duty that entails, so isn't £1 for red just a little bit opportunistic on 'somebody's' behalf?

Gravatar Sue,
I hope you are going to take your ticket back to the station (or send it to the train company) and get your money back. You bought a ticket to Stafford - they didn't get you there - therefore you shouldn't pay.

Gravatar Lesley and Jim,

Lesley, Yes I do have to agree with you on what you say. It seems to me that there are 'pockets' of prices throughout the whole system.. around here, around a quid.. further upstream there are 'pockets' of 80p. We have heard of one at 70p.. Ho Hum.. I smell a bit of price fixing?

Jim,

Yes I will have a go, but I could have got to Stafford by staying on the train at Nuneaton and travelling to Birmingham to catch a train north to Stafford, but if I had done that it would have taken an extra 2 hours, by which time my dentist would be shut for the day! I will let you know how I get on when I hear back from them

Gravatar Sue, I had a similar experience recently when my direct train from Hereford to reading was cancelled and I was advised to take a train to Worcester and change there. When I got to Worcester I found the Reading train from there was also cancelled (they were having a bad day)so I returned to Hereford. At first they said I would have my refund reduced by the amount of the fare between Hereford and Worcester. I pointed out that i diudn't want to go to Worcester in the first place (just as you didn't want to go to Nuneaton). They gave in and I got a full refund. Good Luck
Jim

Gravatar Jim.. Well can but try. I do have over £100 of vouchers from the train companies for delays etc, tis no wonder their train fares are going up when they have to give so much back!
