Hi Sue,
Little known trivia - My Godfathers wife (who is also my father's second cousin) worked in Bletchley during the war - she was a mathematician.
As far as getting stuck on the wall of a lock with rising water is concerned - that must be one of the least pleasant things to happen to anyone on a canal - glad you didn't have a repeat performance this year. Why do they have chains on the inside of locks?

I'd read your post just before leaving for work this morning, so imagine my surprise when I neard on the radio that a group of computer science experts are calling on the government to give Bletchley Park public funding! Charles and Camilla are there today too. You're obvioulsy trend-setters!

It was a news item on BBC Look East and Anglia tonight. It is frequently a local item but 'no one with the adequate purse strings' is remotely interested. Says a lot for the world today eh?
I will be in Bedford tomorrow, but, in similar fashion to above 'no one is interested' in providing a bus service to the area you are heading for.

Called in to see you late afternoon on our tender. No-one at home, boat guarded by two Guard-Grandchildren!!! Couldn't come again as had to go home to get ready for harvest. Sorry to have missed you and hope to catch you again sometime. Simon & Helen (NB Davy Bach c300 yards in front of you on far bank!!)
ps Thank you for coming down this way, it helps to even out the numbers as we are very much outnumbered by the 'Yogurt Pots'. We did pass you a fortnight ago at Buckden and greatly admired your pram cover. We are desperately searching for a maker with some imagination to make one for our unique rear end.

Ron, Adam, Kevin and Harry ------
Ron, Nice to hear from you, hope all is well, and hope the girls are doing good...
There is a couple of books there Ron that have all the names of the people that have worked at Bletchley Park during the war years. They reckon they have got most of the names too. I think my ex next door neighbour worked there too, I am enquiring to find out..
No idea why there are chains, nobody uses them because they are so slimey anyway
Adam,
Yeah, how odd, although John did know someone important was coming, but wasn't privy to who!
Hopefully Charlie might have a word in the right places then!
Kevin,
Yeah I suppose it is spooky!.. We stayed for a night in 2006, but this year thought we would find a grassy mooring beings we had the family about..
Harry,
Is that really the reason?

Anon and Farmer Giles -----------
Anon,
Yes I see there is quite a bit of reference to Bletchley Park, news items here and there, and you are right, and for sure it is going to ruin.. tis the government who should be supporting it really you know..
St Neots is a good place for buses all over.. you can catch one to Oxford from here!
Farmer Giles,
Damn.. well the guard grandchildren did have grandad aboard, but he is a bit deaf, apparently the grandchildren correctly said that grandma was not around.. she was at the vets with the real guard dogs getting them checked over and their claws etc done..
I don't know how you got away without meeting Vic!!
