Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

Glad to see you made it
We did it a couple of years ago.
Ref: the struggle across the Pontcyslite Aquaduct, could be the current
There is always a current flowing from the Welsh end to the English end of the canal, normal times it's 2MPH, with past few months weather it might be a bit more.
The current needs remembering when you are comeing back the T junction just before the Pontcysylite Aquaduct has a tendancy to catch people out.
When we came to the end I was practicaly on tickover but still got shot across the junction and emptied all the shelves, felt a right twit.
I later found out that even Helmsmen, and Women, who have been on the cut for some years, and know this section, have been know to hit the bank.
In 2005 there was two workmen on that canal and it needed TLC then, lost count of the times we ran aground, even when a good few feet from the bank, but well worth the effort.
Fantastic views.
Just hope this is not what to expect on the rest of the system.
Don't forget about the right turn at Trevor, Or keep everything on the floor.

>>railway aqueduct
errmm shouldn't that be railway viaduct?
Glad you managed to get to the end. I suppose that your perspective on the canal has changed since you were last there - and, of course, it has fallen into relative disrepair both of which may account for the slightly less than favourable reaction you have to it in 2007.
Keep well all 4 of you (including the boat)

Hi sue and vic
Having a man moment but this thought just hit me. If when going over the viaduct, does the weight of the boat get added to the overall weight of the water on the bridge, or does it not add any weight at all becasue it is floating.....???? lol

First of all an answer for James, Archimedes
Sue,
As has been said watch that turn on the return trip, I was ready for it and still hit the bank with a wallop.
Next time I think I will try tick over in reverse.
Hope you enjoy the train journey.

Roger,
Thanks for the tip.. I will creep round the corner at Trevor and hope for the best.. mind you we may well be turning left into Trevor Basin, depends when I phone in the morning on the prices of pump outs and diesel. Yes it is very shallow in some places, it will need dredging some day
Ron,
Of course viaduct.. it was a bit late last night when I was writing the blog.. errr slip of the fingers?
We have not been on this canal before so I did not have anything to compare. I only compare with the rest of the waterway system when writing.. this canal is extremely well manicured compared to others, just there is no actual maintenance going on that I can see.
James,
Bottle seems to have the answer for you!

I did enjoy the train journey too!.. Ha I expect I will be going flat out in reverse once I poke No Problem out from the bridge.. for sure I will be desperate to clear the stern from the bridgehole so that I can start to turn!
Ken and Alex, many thanks for your comments on the photos, at least this time I managed to get some without having to steer No Problem at the same time!.. Most of the pics that you see are taken from the stern deck with a tiller in one hand and camera in the other!

Dave and Jill, Many thanks for your lovely comment, sometimes especially through the winter months when we don't move much there really isn't all that much to write about, so glad you are enjoying my musings at the moment
