Hi Sue, I've just found your blog in the last few days. Very interesting and the impressive photos make it very informative and entertaining.
We had a narrow boat a few years ago which we use to moor at Shardlow. I see you've been doing this a few years now and I am interested to know whether you will be cruising all through the winter months or is that not possible with stoppages etc or is that not your plan anyway?

Yes, we cruise the winter months, planning our route so as to miss the stoppages. We have a list of them here, and can dodge between them the best we can.
We are staying in this particular part of the country this winter, which means we might look at the Caldon as well as the Trent and Mersey, depending on the stoppages of course, not looked at those for that particular area.
But running up to Christmas, it will be the Staff and Worc Canal for us.. we don't do many hours in the winter.. well we don't do many hours anytime of the year actually!
