You can walk the Prees Branch nature Reserve - at least we could in the spring. You can always watch the DVD of it if you can't walk it.

Sue.
We moored the Prees Branch at the Whixall marina in 2004 during our Llangollen canal holiday. Such beauty! In 2005 Linda and I walked the Montgomery canal from Frankton Junction to Llanymynech since we didn't find time to do it in '04. What a beautiful area! We do hope they will reopen the canal right down to Newtown! Hope you all enjoy shropshire thoroughly while the weather stays good. You may want to turn north at Hurleston Junction to do some shopping in Chester before you head south for winter. Lucy would love a walk up Beeston Castle! The views.....!!!!!!

Paul,
Thankyou.. Yep been there seen it done it!
Dennis and Linda,
We didn't decide yet whether to go to Chester or not, decisions, decisions!
I would love to go up this hills walking, but my legs are still suffering from what I guess was a virus last Christmas making going up any incline very painful. But it is slowly getting better, just means at the moment I have to choose my walking routes carefully.
Lucy is very demanding on her walks though, so she iw making me work hard!

The Weston Arm is completely gone now. It was closed before the rest of the canal, and has been filled in and ploughed over. You can just make out parts of its path on Google Earth though.
