Two boats for a while - an opportunity to have Christmas afloat with all the family?
Will be interested to hear more about your 'bunkroom' - how's it all going to disappear?
We were going down the bunk bed route to accommodate the grandchildren, but when the boat got to about 90ft(on paper) we combined our utility room and bunk room so that the utility room worksurface converts into a large sleeping platform where the grandchildren can all bundle down in sleeping bags or readybeds. I still like the idea of bunk beds though for when they are older.
Regards
Gillian

Hiya Sue & Vic
Congrat's on the new boat I can see 2007 is going to be one hell of a busy year for you. Should not the name though have been "No Problem 2"...!!! Btw, have decided not to buy you a bottle next year but maybe 25ltr of deck paint lmao. Battleship MOD grey. Have you worked out though what restrictions the new size will put on your wanderings from now on given the extra length. Have sent you a card but via the shop ok, hopefully Wen's will forward it on for me to you both.

She's yours at last. The layout sounds v good, can't wait to see the end result.
Looks like we will have to celebrate without you for now - any excuse!

Hi,
I'm a follower of your excellent site (one of the few sites that give me my 'canal fix' even thru the winter so thanks for that.)
Good luck with the second boat and I too look forward to seeing it progress - it certainly seems it is going to get a bit refit.
Take care

I will be interested to see how you will "move boat".
Like moving house but moving boat.
Do they have special boat removal men?
Good luck with it all, you seem to work harder as a retired person than some working people.

Congrats! Sounds very exciting! I wanted to draw your attention to a narrowboat called 'Keeping Up' (they have a website) who have a fabulous bunk area on their boat. The back cabin has two long benches/sofa things but the back of the bench slides up to be a top bunk thus sleeping either 2 or 4. The description probably does it no justice but wanted to mention it incase you haven't seen this sort of thing (as I write I suspect you have!)

Gillian,
We are spending Christmas with the family 'dan saff' again this year.. there is much more space for Father Christmas to leave his gifts for the grandchildren.. plus we only have a very very small chimney, so very small presents only on NP!
I had to laugh at your 90ft narrowboat.. I sure do know what you mean, there just isn't enough space for modern living!..
The bunkroom should be interesting in it's design, we need to do lots of measuring up for our idea to work, so will let you know exactly what we have done a bit later on when we start to really plan it.
James,
Yeah, a load of deck paint won't go amiss!
Many thanks for your good wishes.. yes we are aware that we won't be able to do the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, but we are not bothered about that, well we went to Ripon a couple of years ago, so been there etc etc got t'shirt.. anyway too much trouble with yobs now around Manchester and Wigan, not interested in that..
We are happy with the length.. Paul will get us through Salters Lode, and we don't mind waiting for the right tide to do that!
Mo and Vanessa
Many thanks for your congrats.. I need to pic your brain Mo, I want the dinette like yours with the collapsable back bit.. I don't think you spell it like that, but you know what I mean.. cheers.. yep been celebrating for a few days now!
Nev,
Many thanks for your best wishes.. glad you are enjoying the blog.. I enjoy writing it!..
Furbs,
Ha yeah I do seem to be busier now than ever before.. well the great thing about having two boats is that I can move one against the other to move stuff over!.. Heh can you imagine putting you house on wheels and wheeling it to the new house when you move and just going out of one door into next door to move stuff!!
There are people though who move boats around the system. Those people who work and buy boats dont have the time to move them to a more convenient marina so emply someone to move them for them, so yes I suppose there are boat removal men in that sense!
Bones,
Thanks for the tip, I will have a look to see if that layout is on their website. We have passed that boat many times.. can't remember where, might have been the Nene, but I will find out in a minute when I go to their site!
