The lock cottages on this stretch date from the 1930s, and were built at the same time the locks were widened. The Welsh Road one seems to have been extended at some point. There are others, to the same design, at Cape Locks in Warwick, and at the top of the Stockton flight. I think they're rather attractive.

Adam and Kevin, -------------------------
Adam,
Yes I agree with you they are attractive and I do like them very much, but they are so different to what you normally see. For sure, if there is a lock cottage for sale, then this is what you can do to update it!
Kevin
Yeah, the boat was a bit shinney... (note to self - wash boat soonest)

Sue,
DOoooo visit 'Two Boats', they know how to keep beer, and have some interesting choices.

Hi Sue
Have you done any of Thornproof's caches? They are excellent and nearly all are different from the norm.
Carol
PS I have started doing geocaching after reading about them on your blog

We nearly bought a cottage in Long Itchington, 26 years ago! That stretch of the canal is where I fell in love with canals!!

Martin, Well we missed that, but I have marked it down for next time we pass, which will probably be in the autumn.. I will give that a try, thanks
Carol,
Nice to have met you today, and you know the answer to Thornproof's caches!! Glad I introduced you to geocaching, it was nice to find some of the caches you had hidden this evening, although one got away!
Jane,
