Hi Sue,
I wonder if that's a Burnett Moth in your photo? Good to see you are enjoying some of MY fine weather! Glorious sunshine here at the moment made Shetland the sunniest place in the UK on Saturday with 15hrs of sunshine (remind me about this when I moan about the wind and rain next time please!)
I'm still enjoying your travels along the highways and byways of the all canals via your super-dooper blog here

Hi ue,
I heard on radio 4 (so it must be true) that there is a plague of harlequin ladybirds invading Britian. Apparently they threaten the 1000 or native species
Greatly enjoy your blog and we are looking forward to joining you on long distance cruises in 18 months and counting.

Babs,
Yep you got it!!
Gosh I have been hunting and hunting on the internet for this one, thanks a lot.. but I am amazed that this is a moth, it's wing formation is not of a moth type!
But you are so right.
But hey, lovely as always, to hear from you and that you are enjoying my jottings. I bet yesterday was one to remember in the Shetlands, for sure you up there deserve some of the 'southern weather' stuff!
Sue and Bill,
Very pleased you enjoy the blog, thanks!
To be honest I dont really care what type of ladybird goes to wing right now, the greenfly are almost blackening the sky.. where are the brit ladybirds then!

OK that link is from Yorkshire but you can't have everything
The moth is fairly common everywhere you find ragwort. The caterpillars are black and orange striped.

Hi Sue,
We met a couple of years back at Gt Haywood when we were there on Sophie-Jane No.2, and you were kind enough to show us around No Problem, although I don’t expect you to remember since you must have no end of people stopping to say hello.
We passed you at Flecknoe on Monday last week while we were on our way to have our boat repainted. We didn’t stop as it was a bit early and Vic was frying bacon in his underpants (I’ll leave you to make the joke…). I hope the hot fat didn’t spit and wonder if I should report him to the Health & Safety Executive so they can erect a safety screen around your frying pan.
We’ll be boatless for the next few weeks which is going to be tough, and I’ll try not to get too envious of the wonderful time you’ll be having on the Nene.
Regards,
Dave Edwards

I remember Dave & Jen visiting when we were at Great Haywood Jn and you had your first electric ride. You introduced them (plus Jen's sister & husband) to us. http://ccgi.balmeradsl.plus.com/...phie-jane-no-2/
Now I know what you get up to when I'm not around !

Gosh Paul, you have a good memory. Maybe we'll bump into you again when we collect SJ2 towards the end of August.

Dave Edwards and Paul,
Hello Dave, Oh what a pity to have missed you this time.. Gosh did Vic not have his pinney on? I had a quick inspection after reading your comment and all is well!!
Hopefully meet up with you again sometime, bet the boat looks a treat after the paintjob.. then you will have to mind those trees for sure!
Paul,
Your memory recall never fails to amaze me.. and that isn't all we get up to when you're not around!
