Sue, lovely to see Grendon. My other half and I used to walk along here over 30 years ago when we where just engaged. Ahhhhhhhhh memories 
We loved walking up and down the canal and chatting to boaters even then. My sister has a house in Atherstone just up from the lockkeepers house and she can watch the boats passing from her living room window. She lived in Polesworth many moons ago too. It was in a place called Kiln Way right in the middle of an old pottery area. I remember that the garden was awful and the ground a bugger to dig (pure clay). Really enjoy your blog and am envious of your time on the canals. Unfortunately work gets in the way with us but we try to get out as much as possible. Really feel for you about your bed as we have just had exactly the same thing happen to us. Ours fitted OK but we needed a stepladder to get on it !! luckily someone has bought it from us but it was an expensive mistake.We are now re- thinking.Hope you are feeling better.Dot in Stourport .

I don't suppose you noted the name of the boat moored behind you at the closed down pub? It looks a lot like Comet our old boat that I know is cruising around that area?

Mary, Lovely to know that memories have been kindled.. and you have lots of those. Yes I know where you mean when you say the houses in Atherstone, I think we were moored outside of those while we were there
Dot, Thanks for your good wishes, I am feeling so much better now.. it has been 5 days since the doc gave me those antibiotics and they have done the trick. I have kicked myself up and down No Problem because of the bed.. just one of those things I suppose. One of these days work won't get in the way.. retirement is the way to go!
Nev, Well spotted!! Yes it was Comet, and we have seen the boat a couple of times, once in the dark too as it passed us! The boat looks fine, nice and neat and tidy Nev
