Hi Sue,
That was a fantastic posting about the doctors and the prescriptions. As we are thinking about a several month trip on the canals I have wondered how the doctor and prescription situation worked in Great Britain. I was thinking of bringing of letter of introduction from my doctor with a list of the prescriptions I regularly take for my transplant. Then I thought I would stop by a doctor's office to get a local prescription for the pharmecist. Do you think this would work?
I have read that you are back on day light savings time. Hope you enjoy the long evenings.
Best wishes,
Mark

Just to add to the great advice you got from Sue.......... I/we too plan cruising for 6 months, Like your Mum... I to have a few medical problems........... Unlike you my doctors allows me 3 months prescriptions.... (all year) allowing me time to get a 6 months supply.........
However the point I am making is that I have a good relationship with my local chemist..... Who as offered to Fax the doctors for us if I have ploblems, and post on the prescription/s to the post office of our choice??? (Spelling).......
(I have an ICD unit fitted... plus lung plobs... etc)
Just talk to them.....
Best wishes ....... Roy, Moira & Sally (The Dog)........ on "Slowdown"
Sue.... I presume that you have the e-mail address of the person involved, please pass-on the above.

Lydia Smith, Hello.. The Post Office have a service called Post Restante where mail can be sent to a post office to be picked up by you. Have a look at this link.. http://www.royalmail.com/portal/...12&
catId=400040
You can send a repeat prescription back to your doctor with a stamped address envelope to the Post Office where you want to collect it. Arrange this with the people at your home surgery.
You need to arrange with your Doctor how often he will want to see you during the year for a 'review'. Just tell them you are on an extended cruise for how ever long you are, they do try to help.
If you have problems while you are cruising, you can register with ANY doctor ANYWHERE as a temporary patient for as long as you need, and can get prescriptions from them for ailments.
I hope that helps
