We hired a narrowboat from Oxfordshire Narrowboats last year. We really enjoyed ourselves and would also recommend them. Very friendly people too.
Somerton Deep top lock was one of the best moments of that holiday. What a view. And off course we took the classic picture.

Yes no wonder you were pleased.. that lock is wonderful, but you must remember to let the water in slowly when going uphill.. we watched a couple of boats getting 'sucked' into the front gates because the crews opened to top paddles far too quickly.. I am surprised that this particular lock is not closed more often because of breakages to the top gate with boats ramming it..

Yes I have been following your trip on the blog. Nice innit to just do as you want!!
The gif in the right hand corner seems to have appeared again for me.. hopefully it is there for you too.
The trouble with these data connections is that the phone company's tend to send cached pages rather than waste money on new pages, and even if you write into the template to produce a new page each time somehow they get round that rule which is very annoying!
