Hi, Your comments are always most welcome

Thanks for the bed pics. I am still not sure if I am going to go for that or stick with a 4' longways.

If I go for the cross bed it means we are limited to 71" which is OK as we are both 5'8'', just not sure about what it's like sitting up against the wall sloping forward. Does this cause a problem?

Gravatar Hi Sue,

Have been reading your blog since our NB holiday last year. We love reading about where you've been and seeing so many photos. You do such a fantastic job with your blog.

We are Australians planning a future narrowboat adventure. We're hoping to do a year or so in a few years time but we're starting our planning now!

We have an almost 15yr old labrador x border collie so we can't go while we have him. Your dogs seem to have a lovely life on the canals.

It's much harder planning to buy a boat when you live on the other side of the world but the NB bloggers are so helpful.

Keep up the good work!
Elli & Mick in Aus.

Gravatar Hi Sue and Vic,

Sue, thank you for the explanation of the word "rasher." Enjoyed reading your detailed description a great deal. As you know I do all of the cooking at home and when we come to England will be the cook on the boat. I enjoy learning new recipes and terms as I continue to find my way around the kitchen.

Glad to hear that your saloon is feeling more cozy. You seem to have found some real bargains at IKEA.

Hope the weather starts to become a little more spring like in the next few weeks. It seems you are having a lot of rain and wind.

Best wishes to you all,

Mark

Gravatar Kevin,

No, it is OK sitting up against the side. You could, of course, have a full length bed, as norm and get a slight extention into the corridor? How about a 6ft wide bed right across the boat, best of both worlds?

Gravatar Elli and Mick,

Thankyou for your nice comments, it is always nice to hear from my blog readers that they enjoy some of what I write!

The two collies simply love life about our narrowboat, but they have never really known any different. Some dogs don't like being inside when the boat is banging on the edge or perhaps a knock when going into a lock, I think it is because they can't see out and get worried as to what is going on.

Buying a boat from afar is difficult, but there are many places you can look for help.. try canalworld forum at http://www.canalworld.net/forums/ lots of good help there.. Just ask questions too of the bloggers, I am sure others will be delighted to answer any you may have.

Gravatar Mark, One of the best items I have in the galley is a steamer. I can do the potatoes in water, put the first steamer on the top of that and a second one on that!.. So a 2 story cooking system!

Saves space on the cooker/fire and the veg tastes delicious!

I must put some of my own recipes on my blog sometimes, people might enjoy that.

Yes Ikea is a good place to go, lots of bits and bobs there that are very different to what is found in other places.

The weather is very much up and down at the moment, soon be spring though, the leaf buds are out on the trees, and I spied a bumble bee the other day!
