Careful, all this stress is not good for the blood pressure. I think a long walk with the dogs is in order! By the way, I'm very jealous of your lovely, obedient and well-behaved canine companions - you wouldn't like to try your hand with my greyhounds would you?

Boats do get tied up in single locks. If you're single-handed, you have to do so. I speak from experience!

Sarah,
Nah is OK, all calm now!
I think I just got lucky Sarah, these type dogs are a doddle to train, all they want to do is please, and they do catch on rather quickly!
Greyhounds are a bit too quick for me!
Sandy,
Fair enough, point taken, yes you would need a bollard for the narrow locks if you are single handed.
I think all the ideas in that document are very good ideas, and I would dearly love to see them implemented, but with all the DEFRA cuts being thrown at us, it seems ironic that this document should suggest a massive spending spree to be undertaken.
A lot more staff would be needed also, just I cant see it happening.. I would rather see just the absolute minimum done for now to keep everyone safe with the money available..

As long as you can keep the blood pressure under control, don't lose the anger.
I hope boaters will not just lay back and take whatever BW does or doesn't do. The battle is still on!
I don't expect BW plans to hire more staff: they will probably use sub-contractors (costing more or at least having no eyes for what else might be wrong.)

John,
Just my point was that the document just has too much on it to be feasibly possib le on the budgets given surely.
James was probably right when he said in a later comment on the blog that a lot of this has come from the EU safety standards.. I will say no more!!
