Comment Darlin'

Gravatar All I can say is A-freakin'-MEN, sister.

I tend to use that line quite often...but only with a select few kids...the ones whose parents DON'T enforce the rules.

Gravatar Hahaha! I hate to admit it, but I'll probably be *that* mom, too.

I just consider it that people like us have standards (although, maybe too high sometimes). Shouldn't every parent!? Especially when it comes to the raising the future adults of the world. I think so.

Gravatar Oh Linda, I didn't want to do this though. It sorta leaked outta the corners of my mouth before my brain was notified.

BB, trust me when I tell you that you don't want to be *that* Mom. Your world will be too small.

Okay to think it, good to blog it, not good to say it.

We do want to make our friends feel good about themselves and their children, not tear them down.

Gravatar I had to laugh. I'm one of those moms too. The only time I've ever said anything out loud, however, is in response to another mom who thought it was her place to tell me what I was doing wrong. It may or may not be wrong to speak up, but I still admire people with the guts to speak the truth. Video games at the dinner table??? Not at my house either.

Gravatar I've been that asshole, too. In my own special way.

Glad to know I'm not alone. But I am mostly like you in I tend to think it a lot and rarely make the slip.

Then again, I've put my foot in my mouth so many times, that I changed lotions so that I could stand the taste!

Gravatar I was that mom for a while - but mostly inside my head. But I'm not really anymore...while I try to be a great mom all the time, I'm sure I do things that others think are wrong at times. And I try really hard to remember that parents who do things I think are bad choices might have a good reason - the kid might be really challenging, whatever. For me, it feels better just to give the benefit of the doubt. Well, sometimes I can't help myself though....

Gravatar Ah, God bless you. Layin' down the law. I think there are far too many parents that would never think of limiting their child's behavior in any way (see "Park Slope") lest the child develop some kind of complex for which they will forever be resented. That said, it's gotta be such a fine line between doing what's best for our families in society and just self-righteously showing off our good manners to teach those "heathens" amongst us a lesson. If I had to choose, however, I'd go with showing off.

Gravatar In short, I guess I'm "that asshole", too.

Gravatar I'd probably say it and then apologize profusely for my presumption. On the other hand, if the dinner were at my house I would say it and enforce it.

Gravatar ROFL! Holy Moly that was funny!

Well I used to be that mom...when I had only 2 children. I now have 5 sons.

I'm tired. I'm not that mom anymore. *sigh* I figure one of them will turn out okay and I'll just brag about him. LOL

Gravatar I was once that mom. Then I decided to reclaim my life and let them go at it. Hope you're stronger than I was.

Gravatar I was at a party with my charge today. After the pinata was cracked open, I would not let my young charge run around with a lollipop in her mouth. Her best friends mother had no issue with this as her daughter was climbing the jungle gym and going down the slide with the stick hanging out of her mouth.

Yes, I'm one of those nannies.

Gravatar Bless you, bless you, bless you for attempting to instill manners in the young. You are a rare and wondrous parent.

Gravatar I'm one of those moms, too.

Gravatar Well, it's pretty rude for a youngster to play games at the dinner table! But all people have their crabby moments! So we are all one of those moms from time to time.

Gravatar I guess you'd probably cluck away at me... I let the boy bring the DS to restaurants usually because if there's a wait, it can make things easier for us; and at this age he gets starving so quickly, so it's an easy distraction. But once the we're seated, the game must be put away; we're not TOTALLY lame LOL!

Gravatar As someone else said, I think we're all that parent from time to time. The question is, what kind of reaction did you get?

Gravatar Love this post. Sooooo, right on.
My first time to visit, but I'll be back. After reading a couple of posts, I think I enjoy the way your mind works.
