Just shows how incredibly backward Islam is. These kinds of silly rules have no place in the modern world. Get on with it people.
It isn't Islam that is backward, it's the people that follow it that are. If you look back 200 years, you'll see that Christianity was similarly placed (Spanish inquisition, wars between Catholics and Protestants, etc)
This is true - Christianity is the same. But for some reason Christians keep adapting to modern world while Muslims didn't. I don't exactly know what the reason was but they are not in an easy position now - they have to jump couple of centuries on order to be acceptable for "western" society.
