You forget the role of the CIA in supporting the SAVAK secret police in Iran under the Shah. It was largely the oppression of SAVAK and the Shah's greed in personally pocketing oil revenue, that turned the population to fundamentalism. As far as oil or other resources are concerned, American support for Arab regimes and national interest are one and the same. Saddam was originally supported by the US until he got on its wrong side. There are good documentaries published that have interviewed past CIA managers, who at times practically joke about their meddling in foreign affairs. You need to do your research. Im not targeting the US though, ALL countries do this to the extent of their capabilities. It is good that you recognise your own country's xenophobia though, and attempt an objective approach.
