If Ben Wallace is pissed b/c he didn't get the charge on Ginobili, he's got no one to blame but himself. He needlessly flopped. Had he been casual about it -- and not tried 2 sec. earlier to get the offensive foul -- he would've gotten the call. But the refs had that figured out and then Wallace over-compensated. So I wouldn't call that an entirely bad call.

Jason, you screwed up man...dropping the "f" bomb will open up a pandora's box of anti-Spuritism. We, as Spurs fans, cannot criticize others for "f"-ing. It is like the pot calling the kettle a puta madre...or something like that.

Before this game I never realized how much Wallace flops. He practically began the game with a flop. Why isn't anybody all over his case like they are Manu?

I don't understand why everyone is conceding that as a bad call. Looking at it strictly from the "feet-set" standard, Ben Wallace slid over for the collision with Manu. Now, Manu COULD have been called for using the forearm anyway, but Wallace's feet weren't set. So, Manu may have charged, but Ben didn't successfully draw the charge himself.

You can't outflop the master flopper. First off, when you're 250 pounds no one is buying it. You look stupid and you lose respect.
I don't know how much BWallace flopped before, but I'd like to think he's jealous of Manu. Same thing in the Sonics series. Their bigs tried their hand (and feet) at flopping and looked stupid as well. I don't watch enough Sonics games to know if this was a new trend, but given the constant crying in the press over Manu's flops, I'd like to think they were trying to fight flop with flop. Memories of Reggie Evans ridiculous flops can still brighten up the day.

The Spurs were just flat out better than Detroit, while the Pistons, in the second half at least, were just flat. SWI-ITCH!

And another thing, while some of the calls were definately bad, hopefully there won't be any conspiracy theories rumbling around. At this stage, it's may the best team win. Certainly a case could be made, a bad one but still a case, that the league office would favor one team over another to have the be$t possible Finals matchup. But, once it's set, it's set.
The real issue with NBA Officiating is their overall poor handling of fast big men. NBA refs just can't handle a speedy center or PF.
AND: Momentum is a word that color commentators use when they're stupid. Which on a national broadcast is 90% of the time.

i like the way the momentum of this thread is going! and yes, i am one of the unbiased fans who is highly enjoying seeing spur(s) fans lambasting (?) wallace for flopping. har-f**king-har. that's hee-larious. please remember to towel off and take manu's nut off your chin before you head out to work. (a little much? naaaaghh!)
i went on spurstalk during the sonics or suns series and i believe there was a running thread with 5 pages of comments defending or admitting the sickness flopped on a particular play. highly entertaining.

btw: that manu dunk at the end... Sick. Just sick. I thought fer sure he was gonna finger roll the sucker. It kind of reminded me of a cross of tom chambers' gravity defying hang time dunk from the 3 point line and jordan's fake dunk-lefty layin against Magic. Nowhere near as jawdropping amazing... but still unexpected.
Where does he get those wonderful toys?

I don't see what the big deal is about flopping. Most of these guys are strong enough to withstand any offensive foul (except from Chack). Without the flop, I don't think refs would call offensive fouls when they need to be called, regardless of the severity of the foul. It's a good strategy and hopefully will dissuade players from playing street ball and will make them develop into shooters.
I don't mind Ben Wallace flopping. But just try to make it believable. He should've been given a Razzy for that flop in the 4th.

That article sucked. Here's the scoop Mr. Jackson, if you want to write a human interest story on Manu then some mention must be made of the day he signed his soul over to the devil. Without it your article is incomplete.

Flopping in basketball is TOTALLY different from flopping soccer. In basketball, it's ALMOST always just a matter of going ahead and falling when you're hit, rather than trying to fight through it.
In soccer, there's a lot of real flopping, as in falling without any contact at all.
However, the most annoying part of "flopping" in soccer is when players go down, act desperately hurt for 30 seconds or so, and then get up and keep playing. And no one can accuse Manu of not popping back up very quickly and continuing to play, rather than whining.
