RE: Ginobili off the bench.

I was visiting my folks in Indianapolis a couple weeks ago and we got to talking Pacers basketball. An article had just come out in the Star about Carlysle considering bringing Artest off the bench. Not full-time, but situationally. Everyone seemed pretty excited about the idea and its possibilities. (Possibilities which elude me.)

One of the major points in the article was that it worked for the Spurs, specifically mentioning Ginobili in the playoffs. In fact, that seemed to be the brunt of the argument.

So, it surprises me little that the announcers suggested the same for this year. Get used to most everyone suggesting it'll happen again since it is remarkable, after all, that a team's star is perfectly willing to come off the bench. It doesn't mean Pop will do it. It means it's high on people's minds.

i completely agree with you about the dress code. i love that this is what people are going to be talking about for the next few months, and not how exciting the league is.

stern should really spend his time looking into this DVD problem. it's a joke that the championship DVD only includes the final 4th quarter. i only hope that we win a few more championships and the league is forced to give us the Bulls' Treatment. Their dynasty is captured on 4 double sided DVDs featuring an hour long program on each season, plus one entire key game from each trip to the Finals.

good to have you back. i promise to refrain from any KG vs. TD bitching.

Is Timmeh's label of the dress code as "retarded" a coded message to you of how much he loves his South Park nickname?

Re: the before and after photos you linked to Fin. The latter photo of our current Finley shows him finger rolling. I would like to think he is channeling #44 and not merely showing his age and lack of ups.

Re: Artest off the bench. I think an official memo went out to all the coach's and owners that they must copy whatever it is that the Spurs are doing. Ok, I'm not sure what higher power sent the memo (clearly not Stern, then who...) but the cheap copy catting (is that a word?) is now at comic levels if the Pacers coach wants to bring Ron off the bench because the Spurs took their best guard off the bench. How can Carlisle be taken seriously as a coach from after this point?

Doesn't everyone know the reason Manu came off the bench was because we are the only team with Brent Barry. And Brent Barry needs to be stroked and feel like a starter to do anything. Ok, that was a bit harsh on Brent. I do want him to do well. And his last game of last season was probably his best. I think he saw his dad in the stands and got worked up to such a point he basically said fuck it, I can't take it anymore, I'll never be the player he is, then smoked a huge joint and played like he doesn't give a fuck.

But to wrap it up on the Artest 6 man issue/memo, as a Spurs fan I can only take delight in the fact that the Spurs for the first time in league history are THE TEAM. AND, that other teams are so poorly trying to copy us that they will probably go against what strengths they have in order to try and (hopefully) fail in beating us at our own game.

Gravatar Token: If anything it's a coded message to Tony Parker. I'll let Booth52 fill you in.

Hollywood: You're right about the Spurs special circumstances re: 'Nobili coming off the bench. And people seem to forget it was for only 8 games.

Barry did play well in Game 7. In fact, I remember talking to Matty during half time about The Cooler being our best player up to that point in the game. Not a good omen.

Gravatar the last line was amazing

Gravatar Well does it matter who starts as long as who finishes? after all lets face it Ginobili will still get the most mins....Ginobili is basically like Ricky Pierce(sonics at one time?) only a 1,000 times better..and how bad ass our we if we can bring Ginobili off the bench?

Personally, don't see it happening cos I think there is plenty of mins of Da Finn where he does not need to be a starter. Besides who cares as long we win the rings? I mean would we all get pissed at POP if he brought Parker off the bench and we still won the best record? U think Eva Longoria would dump Parker if he was not a starter?

My point is who cares as long as we win this is a team and whatever it takes to win POP and the players will do it and lets be realistic if it is not broken why fix it?

Gravatar p.s. GO BLACK SOX....ASTROS SUCK!

imagine this:

ginobili, horry, obeto, nve, beno, rasho(or mohammed), barry as our bench....that team alone wins 50 games for us.

Instead of Ginobili or Da Finn starting shouldn;t the talk be about which center will be the starter Rasho or Nazr and can Oberto pass them both....

DID anyone see a mini Nobili in Oberto in the NY knicks preseason game witht the between the legs pass. Sick sick sick....

Oh, don;t 4get about Luis Scola next year?

It's over!

Gravatar Now that even Spurs fans have gotten used to it, I don't really see too big of an issue if Manu comes off the bench, so long as he plays at least 30 min (or, alternatively, blows the game wide open in 20 mins).

Manu is, after all, the closest thing to John Havlicek to appear in the NBA in a very very long time.

Gravatar Tony Parker can you tell me you play with the ball so well, while Eva plays with the guys. What makes you think that is loyal to you? I wish you luck, not BAD LUCK!

Eva plays with guys. what makes you think that eva is loyal to you? Wish
