I think the fact that he has only just been elected will count against him strongly (although he seems to be as close to a career politician as you get without being in a think tank).
Additionally, I've never liked him since the 2004 European elections, when his pamphlet literature contained pictures of him hugging kittens. He must be evil.

For anybody reading this, Ken is only half-serious when suggesting that he doesn't like kittens... :-D
You see, that's why he isn't a fellow Lib Dem member. Ken doesn't like nice, cuddly things like kittens, and muesli and peace. 
In seriousness, I can see why his novelty counts against him, but I genuinely believe he has qualities none of the "pack of 3" do.

And, of course, adding Huhne (Westminster) to Blair (Fettes) and Cameron (Eton) would reassure Telegraph readers that the country remains in the right sort of hands.
