Assorted Babble by Suzie

Gravatar Reading this makes me very glad that we have a generator for back up. Wow, Suzie, you really outdid yourself with this post. I can tell you have done your homework!

Perhaps we should start thinking about horses. And those who don't know anything about horses may have to bone up a bit. One never knows....

Well, at least then we wouldn't have to worry about the price of gas, would we! See... there's a silver lining to every cloud.

Not trying to make light of this at all. It's a serious post, and people had better wisen up pretty darned fast!

Gravatar Gayle this is just the tip of the iceburg...of info. It is down right chilling...and what they can do right now.

Yeah, I may have to come to Texas...and live on the farm w/you. (smiling and half serious) My sister has horses....and you are right....All except it would not solve our hunger part. Just last summer, people went nuts here...with no fuel/gas for their cars....with 3.5 million people w/out power after the hurricane. (we had several hurricanes) It was awful, we used a small generator...but we had to constantly keep up with getting fuel and it was chaos terrible. It was almost like what I described in this post...to a smaller degree. People were fighting in the streets...etc.

Gravatar EMP's can definitely cause a greater disruption then a nuke, but the good news is that your military has figured out a way to somewhat defend against it. They not only monitor all satellite activity, but also have the ability of taking out a potential rogue getting into position.

Gravatar EMT - there goes our blogging and banking and nearly everything else. A generator's good, Gayle. Nukes in the hands of nuts - it's only a matter of time. The writing has been on the wall for 20 years. Good post, Suzie.

Gravatar ABF: That is very good news and must be very new technology. (but the " somewhat defend"...can be a concern) This was written a little less than a year ago with many references to it. Does Canada also have this ability?

Gravatar Patrick-Thanks! Yeah on the nukes...wiping out millions...in cities in the hands of Al-Qaeda (suitcase bombs) or Iran setting up in Cuba and/or S.America....A generator does not do you much good.
Iran is joining up with all the Islamic countries....they have Hamas covered within yards of Israel. Not to mention all the other countries they have been dealing w/from Syria to SE Asia..The biggies Russia and China!!

Gravatar Disturbing but lets look at some real world issues. Our military has not sat by and watched this develop. Thanks to Regan we have this technology and also some very effective countermeasures in place.
This EMT we are talking about is more of a threat because it might do some damage. More of a nuisance than a military problem.
The Nuke thing is much more of a reality. with the borders being so open and the Hate in the Muslim nations for Americans I can see this happening at any time.
All we can do is Prepare for it,Pray it doesn't happen and Show no fear about it or else they have already won.

Gravatar Robert, all your points are so valid and real. We do need to start preparing, others may not feel this is something to worry about...but at anytime this can become a nightmare. My next segment on this....is the section on Islam playing a huge part of this.
You are right we need to be praying and stay diligent. Their goals are to kill us all....infidels!! Christians and Jews...and anyone that is not a Muslim. (even though they are killing their own)

Gravatar Normal generators would also fail.

This really would put us back in the 19th century. Once we used up the food supplies in the house, we'd have to grow our own stuff, go hunting for meat, man, it could be incredible anarchy!

The government has plenty of "hardened" equipment that will not be effected. But our economy would be destroyed. Our technology could be repaired over the course of years but one may well imagine that no US President would take such an attack and not respond. What a nightmare!

Gravatar You make several chilling points, Suzie. I almost feel guilty for poking fun at Dennis Kucinich demanding that Bush admit that we have troops on the ground in Iran.

I mention many of the same threats that you cite here, though you are much more thorough, and serious in tone. This is a great post, that supports my contention that Kucinich and other lefties are not only "out there," but dangerous to our country!

I'm going back to put in a link to this post, I think! Check my post out, if you can.It was written in a different spirit; trying to make light of a difficult situation, and trying to scare my liberal readers.

Gravatar I think I will go check out Chris's site.

I already grow my own food, most of it. What I don't do is hunt, but whatever it takes. I'm a pretty good fisherman (fisherwoman?) though! But if it got bad enough, fish wouldn't be fit to eat. Vegetarian time!

Gravatar One more thing on a more serious not than the comment I just left. Suzie, I really don't think it will come to that. There is a lot I'm aware of that I can't tell you about regarding our defenses, because I don't want to put it out there for the enemy to pick up on. Unlike the MSM I'm not that stupid. It's not really me that knows about it, but my husband. I will leave it at this... we are better off than you think we are.

Gravatar it is quite frightening what these people are doing. I can't imaging how they have gotten away with it for so long. I do hope this can all be brought to an end soon. It's not so much myself or adults i worry for but it's the kids. They are the ones who truely suffer the most and they will be the ones who will have to clean up all of this mess in the future.

Gravatar And so many people out there cant understand why we are doing what we are doing.........good post!

Gravatar While the EMP is a threat, it is a localized and short lived byproduct of a nuclear explosion. The Electromagnetic Pulse preceeds the shockwave and basically supercharges the electrons for a few seconds. Yes, everything shuts down, but once the initial pulse passes by anything that is grounded properly should work again. It is more of an issue for aircraft (engine shut down - but they should restart ok if you can glide for a little while) and communication networks (handheld devices aren't made to experience power surges) because most of the infrastructure would be fine. The threat of a nuclear bomb is really limited to that of a dirty bomb (which would still be really bad, but smaller than Hiroshima or Nagasaki) since the enriched uranium or plutonium is not something that terrorists can get a hold of. Politics or not, if you can sell some uranium for 40 million, are you going to give it to some crazy guy for free? Neither would anybody else.
I think they made a movie about just such an occurance in the late eighties "The Day After" ?? which was pretty good. It may have been a mini-series. We need to do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening. I like a revival of the Monroe Doctrine, except extend it to include threats against the US or our allies. Too long, gotta go. Peace and love Suz, L

Gravatar Congrats on the link from Gateway Pundit. That will practically ensure a lot of readers see this important information. As for my link, it was my pleasure to help you spread the news.

Gravatar Suzie,
I am proud of you. Great job. I linked to you in a brief post on this. My two readers you and Pat can re-enjoy it....... hehehehehe just kidding there's three I think.
Anyway its a great post. Very much an eye opener. Some of it I had read way back and some I didn't know. Be proud of yourself.

Gravatar Whoa! Yes there would be mayhem and a large variety of above would occur. But I take issue with a very very important part of your post:

"Planes that are in flight will crash b/c their electronic systems will fail. The missile systems will fail to function. We will cease to be a superpower in one billionth of a second."

As mentioned planes can be restarted, and since the nuclear age we have begun making military aircraft protected (shielded) from such a charge. Two key ones being USAF aircraft with the tail numbers 28000 and 29000.

If you are referring to our ICBM capabilities, those as well have been shielded. And nuclear submarines would not be affected. They would still be at sea able to communicate with the CINC and launch if needed.

Gravatar Nice post.

In terms of the threat and our ability to foil it, I do agree more with Gayle. Despite being hamstrung by clueless people and policies, our intelligence network is still pretty decent at foiling these kinds of things since 9/11. Anyone who thinks there hasn't been an attempt at terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11 is sorely mistaken (I think Bush himself has stated this).

As far as the EMP goes, it will cause a lot of chaos should it ever be succcessful. At any rate, it seems a little unlikely that someone would be able to launch a scud from anywhere to cause an EMP blast over the US. It's a lot harder to hide and conceal a scud launch-site, especially for a non-state actor, than you would think.

I am of the opinion that if Al Qaeda had WMD right now, they would have tried to use them or we would know about it already.

I have only done limited research on the suitcase nuke, but what I have done leads me to believe that it is a lot more complex and a lot less effective than most people think.

As far as the Iranian president goes, I don't pay as much attention to what he says. He really is just a figurehead for the mullarchy, so they let him spout off whatever is inflammatory. With regards to the Iranian situation in general, I really do think our best hope is the Iranian people themselves getting sick of extreme Islamic fundamentalism.

Gravatar I've written a post on the EMP situation specifically, Suzie.

Gravatar Excellent post!! Sorry it took me so long to get here. I have to think that W, Condi and Rummy have a plan on how to deal with this and soon. Iran is definitely a ticking timebomb and you have to wonder what we're waiting for. No computers to blog--what would we do???????
