awesome as usual, my friends...love the beard! love the tails!!
pnut had to dress as a literary character from her favorite book for school today (they don't call it halloween? wtf?), so we made her olivia (the pig)...tonight she wanted to be the red m&m and have the bean be the yellow one...sigh...better than dora but definitely not as cool as lisa simpson!!

Great costumes! Live it up dressing baby Gram as whatever you can think of because you know soon enough he'll have opinions of his own! I can't believe your wife made J's mermaid costume!!!! Super impressive! For some reason I'm most impressed by the shirt since getting sleeves to fit on the body part has always totally bewildered me. Happy Halloween!

p.s. King Poseidon didn't always have a beard. He must have been young at some point, no? Gram's just the King in his early years.

Wow - Wood is awesome with a sewing machine. I can sew but I'd never be able to create something that that without a detailed pattern.
Great costumes!

OMG, those are awesome, absolutely incredible. And I shamefully let my daughter pick out an Abby Cadabby costume at Target. No amount of persuasion could get her to go for anything else, and the weird thing is, she doesn't even really watch Sesame Street.

I'll admit that there are only two things that will keep me pressing the refresh button for parent bloggers.
1) What they end up naming their children.
2) What they dress them up as on Halloween.
You guys never disappoint me. Adorable!

You are my long lost family for so many crazy reasons I can't get into right now. okay... the thriftiness, the craftiness, the simpleness, the fact that you made your newborn son King Trident (stories told to me as a young child that I remember clearly 25-30 years later)....
(damn i sound nuts...but please keep writing... you make me feel like "me" again and that I am not alone and unrelatable)
You guys rock over here at sweetjuniper. Please keep up the good work.

Just from your pre description of your son's beard project,I expected nothing but a masterpiece LOL and got it from that photo...did he wear it long? I felt bad for Juni as she watched the scalping of the goat lol.
The pictures are priceless. My 3 younger kids went as Batman/Robin(hey with a fourth child and several costumes in the bin ya gotta work with what the handmedowns give ya LOL..SO he was in a black and red Robin costume from my oldest son who wore it at the same age,but I lost Robin's mask-and with a mask/breast plate that "talked" with the lighted batman symbol for his "manly muscled chest")and a plastic cape(Robin's to me looked like a vampire cape so I took the plastic one as my 18 yr old so said," more authentic and went with Batman's costume anyway mom") and he looked like one of the several different costumed action figures in the stores..hey I might market that costume LOL...
Then my daughters went as a FACELESS ghoulfriend and a hippie. Actually the hippie won 3rd prize at a halloween campout this year, second time she won for her own costume creations...a future career for this 7t grader maybe???hmmmmmm....

I love the pictures and I would think you were torturing your kids by making them pose for pictures in the cold wet sand....if it were the typical Michigan Halloween day weather wise. BUT IT WAS UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL OUT!!! 70 degrees and incredible, the best October 31st I can remember in the 25 years I've been toting kids around for trick or treat.
Etch it in your memory bank.

WOW! What an incredible job, Wood!
And I thought my home-made traffic cone was good. But I don't know how to sew, so I had to stick with something that just required cutting and hot glue.
I'm glad someone else does home-made costumes.

strange. wood & i were probably swearing at this evil fabric at exactly the same time. MiniMe requested a mermaid costume, as well. although i only had to make one. great work.
the mane/beard thing conjures up some weird images of the old man baby thing that has always skeeved me a little, but funny. poor juney. hope that got worked out to her satisfaction. i'd be hearing about that for months. like the nightmares about the bad robots from her glimpsing 5 minutes of the stupid star trek...
