Sorry to hear this has turned into such a pain, Dutch. It will be worth it, I think.

Love the urchin photo this week. One of the first blogs I ever read was a hot dog blog several years ago by a guy my husband worked with (http://www.roundonline.com/dogblog/ ...He's also lead singer for Harry and the Potters). I was blown away by the fact that someone would spend time reviewing different hot dog eating experiences. Anyhow... I have a particular soft spot for the hot dog urchin.
Cheers--

Some reader just went -- "YES! That's IT! I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but YES! He IS a pompous blow hard."

I look forward to reading your blogs everytime they come up on my screen. From the sweet urchins (I too want to share the joys of Flip the Frog and Charlie Chapin with my little kiddos) to Thursday Morning Wood...I always enjoy!

Dear lord, that headline. Nice to know that current media has a rich history in stupid news.

I just went through and read the caretaker notes - they were the sweetest (and most hilarious). I thought I'd read everything in your archives but somehow missed those.

i like that it features the buffalo evening news- poor buffalo, buried under 1000 feet of snow. and oswego? buried under 10000 feet. they literally got like 100" in 4 days- ugh! these are the days we don't miss it up there. not at all.
dutch, are you looking for google hits with the "wood's boobs" tag? is that really fair? i mean, really. thanks again for all the time, it seems like a labor of love.

I love labels/tags. They really do help your readers discover your stuff, especially new readers like myself. Putting the tags on your posts will do amazing things to your traffic.
Jeremiah Nichols, of Z Recommends, posted about his experience since he made the Blogger upgrade (and resulting labeling) switch on a post I did for Asha at Parent Hacks about Technorati and tagging
From to metrics on Baby Toolkit, I can see the difference as well.
I know its hard, but I think all your new readers and many of your old will thank you for the effort.

I just tried to log-on to blogger (I'm still using the old one) and it seems we are all being forced to switch to the new, BETA. I cannot post on old blogger and I'm scared the same thing is going to happen to me. Bleh. I guess the 21st century of blogging is getting bought out and forced out, eh? Arghhhjhakjsdhkajdhsj!

You are killing me with the link to the day care report! My son had a male, Asian caregiver (in SF) when we first started him in day care at 6 weeks. When we moved our son to a place nearer our home, the last day was a total tear fest -- on my part. My son was still too young to understand, but this man, and his wife, had become such a part of our lives. He was the first person, outside of myself and my husband, to have an independent relationship with my son. We didn't get the daily reports, but the love was there.

Maybe it is an unintended benefit, but I read the care provider notes for the first time, and found myself in tears when he and Juniper had to say goodbye! Did he get to see her for Christmas? Please say yes, that breaks my heart!
Oh, and just my two cents: no need to rescue the street urchins. They've been on their own before. They can take it.

Dutch, I feel your pain. I can only imagine what it must have been like to tag that many posts. We had only been blogging for about three months when we made the switch in December.
But yeah, the tagging will make you so happy. Don't fear the new blogger, Girls!

I don't envy you, Dutch, that totally sucks. But I do commend you for bothering to actually do all of it - my lazy ass would just say "oh, well" and leave it as is. Stupid Blogger.

just wanted to note that i love reading both of your posts: i.e. you do have 'a lot of good stuff out there.' this much is evident, as i somehow am checking in at 4 something a.m. chicago time after a rare late night out - just to see what i've missed lately, seemingly because i'm somehow just not exhausted enough to turn in quite yet. i'm not a blogger, but i don't just lurk. thank you.

Discovered you recently from the Sophia Landrum blog.
I grew up in Kalamazoo -- all my maternal relatives lived in Detroit and Grand Rapids. Paternals in Kzo. I now live in TX, but enjoy reading of your adventures in MI.
SO glad you gutted up and went with Booger 2, as I call it ... 'cause I just now read all the caretaker posts that I'd missed before. They made me cry. What a wonderful man Juniper had taking care of her!
Our youngest is now 18, in college to become a neonatal nurse practitioner, and she "nannied" our neighbor's daughter all last summer ... she was able to send instant digital pics of the child to the parents' work email addresses, plus write down all the cool things she did all day ... and we ALL cried copious buckets of tears when the summer ended, our daughter went off to college, and their daughter went off to Montessori school.
You guys were SO lucky to have such a loving person as Juniper's caretaker. I just love that story.

Where do the street urchins come from? Is there a wealth of these in antique stores that I have yet to uncover? I recently found pictures of Abe Vigoda (You know I got rhymes like Abe Vigoda) and Wonder Woman but no urchins.

De-lurking finally to say that you really rock. I just did the blogger upgrade to my modest site, and it just feels like it's going to work better. You clearly have the good energy to work out the bugs and the rich delightful density of Sweet Juniper, and the will to make it so. Just keep tagging, just keep taking pix.

I am resisting the switch, too. Bleck...
But I truly appreciate all that time, and look forward to Wood's day-care transcriptions.

I switched. I'm glad I did it.
I very much like the categories of the new blogger.
I don't think you're a pompous ass btw. I only WISH i were in Detoilet like Melissa and the Robot. I was this close, but Mick got a new job.
I may end up in NC though. Will have to hook up with "Chag" & Ella so that I can post pictures of their real selves.
Wish me luck.

Knowing that you and Schmutzie are also on Blogger makes me feel a little better about myself in the face of all the cool typepad kids. I love the categories feature. Yes, if there is one thing to hate about the medium it is the shelf-life, far too premature for those of us who would like to think our posts have a certain timelessness.
I got here by way of Schmutzie's link to an archived post, btw. We should send each other back into the stacks more often.
