Gravatar Despite the fact this picture is dated, I'm still fearful, upon each awkward glance, that the car will begin to roll backward and flatten that flexible child.

Here's hoping she survived her hubcap vanity and is now living the high life as a yoga instructor.

Gravatar Yea, a new book! Can't wait.

Gravatar That's a freaky picture. I kept expecting her to look up with red-glazed eyes and fangs dripping with blood.

Gravatar Those cars remind me of my childhood and her body language appears so liberated. She doesn't care what's going on around her but I bet she's completely aware of every single thing.

Gravatar Oh! At first I thought she was peeing.

Gravatar my guess is that she's looking for a ball that rolled under the car.

Gravatar Plymouth Duster perhaps? The avocado green is true 70's! I am not sure about what's going on with the girl, seems as though her foot is stuck.

Gravatar Hey, did you ever read your categories on the left side of the screen? I really like "birth story boobs" and "kid's music lawyering".

Gravatar I'm not so much concerned for the ball-seeking urchin; I just want her shoes.

Gravatar aha! the empire is finally underway. 'bout time.

Gravatar My parents had that car, but they never would have shelled out for the white-walls. Plus, theirs had a hole in the passenger side floor. Which is good, because there was a leak where the windshield met the roof.

Gravatar What a fascinating picture. I haven't had much exposure to Helen Levitt's work but what I have seen is wonderful.

Gravatar Gosh, I love the color of that car. Why don't they make cars in vivid chartreuse anymore?

Gravatar All I heard was, "another alphabet book". We just got ours- thanks!

Gravatar I WANT THAT CAR! What a CLASSIC.

Gravatar I think she's actually just climbed out of the storm drain, and we'll see those fangs any second.....!!

Gravatar You'll appreciate this. My husband gave me a framed print of this photo as a gift when our son was born. It's hanging over his changing table dresser.
