Gravatar Damn...
I am dying to know if weissbluth or sears won the fight (9-27-05). I am sitting here waiting for my adorable 5 month old Lily May to wake up crying...the first of her many tonight. I want to let her cry it out but she is so frickin' LOUD!!! I know she'll wake up the 3 year old, and then the fun will really begin.

PS you guys are HILARIOUS

Gravatar lol...reading this made me smile, and i really needed that! whats your advice for me and my 5 month old, should i let her cry it out? i love the name juniper, nothing wrong with being a hippie. ha

Gravatar I went through the same thing with my older one. I couldn't handle the sleep deprivation by the time he was 6 months old, so we stopped with the madness and started to let him cry it out. thank god because three days later he was sleeping 12 hours through the night. By the time my twins came along we had the method down, and they slept through the night at 3 months...

Gravatar First of all -- thanks for the MUCH NEEDED laugh! I'm dying to know if Sears or Weissbluth wins. I too am struggling with which "method" to use. Sears sounded good at first until I became depressed, frustrated and resentful at having a screaming baby duct-taped to my chest 24-7. Started following Weissbluth's advice three days ago and my son is already sleeping much better. I am trying to cope with the guilt and anxiety I feel when he cries. Of course, he usually cries less than 5 minutes (yes, I watch the clock the whole damn time), and this is much less crying than when I was bouncing him around for an hour trying to get him to fall asleep!
(P.S. At least Weissbluth's advice is based on research rather than author opinion).
