Gravatar Too bad there was no Sparklehorse album this year...

Gravatar Great picks. If I may offer a suggestion, if you have not yet listened to "The Bird and The Bee", you should give them a listen. Just thought I'd share.

Gravatar I thought Of Montreal had the prettiest CD of all last year. Although having just read Blankets and realizing Craig Thompson did the Menomena cover makes me excited.

I think Wood looks a lot like Feist. They both have those bangs of my dreams.

Gravatar Great picks; great redesign. And of course there are one or two that I haven't heard yet either. (Where was I last year? Locked in a room with Field Music on repeat, apparently.)

Gravatar oh I love when you recommend music! And just in time! My favorite album of the year is 'The Reminder' by Feist and funnily my fav song is 'I Feel It All'. I haven't heard anything else on your list though, so looking forward to it. Thanks!

Gravatar HOLY CRAP. You have no idea how catchy I find those Outback commercials. I'm constantly humming them and my husband teases me to no end. I always wondered if it was anyone who would have released other music and now thanks to you I KNOW. Thanks Nice surprise on a Monday morning

Gravatar Menomena! That was definitely my #1 album of the year.

And I should probably thank you for introducing me to Feist when you posted the "1234" video last year. Thanks! I love her.

Gravatar Yay! I love these lists! I loved the Feist album, and I thank you for introducing me to Spoon--Ga Ga Ga Ga GA has not one bad song on it, and the whole fam likes to rock out to it (especially the two year old). Thanks for the sweet Monday tunes!

Gravatar Thanks for posting this.

I love the new banner, especially how it kind of looks like a samurai pushing a stroller.

Gravatar So very bummed about the site re-design. The font is so much tinier that now I actually have to lean forward to see what you've written. Much, much harder to read.

Gravatar the font is the same as it ever was (in firefox). I always hated how the site looked in Internet Explorer, the web browser I have spent the last 36 hours swearing at. I always get grossed out by big fonts, they make me feel like I'm reading Danielle Steele in the old people part of the library.

weird that you wanted to be anonymous saddy! e-mail me with a screenshot if your browser is making it that much smaller than 12pt.

thanks.

Gravatar anyone else hate it?

Gravatar Nice picks - you chose some of my favs as well. I know how you feel about the TV commercial thing. I think that means you're getting old.

Gravatar i always love seeing how many of these artists pnuts daddy knows/enjoys every year when you release the list. he's my connection to cool music. although if they get as much tv play as you say maybe i'll know more than 2 of them for a change.

the only change i notice (firefox on a mac) is your header and left side bar background image. if you grayed that sidebar image out a bit (less saturation) the text would be easier to read but it's not huge b/c there isn't too much text over there that is crazy important. the fonts look the same, except are the titles not bold anymore? i'll wait til you're done tweaking, but so far, i don't hate it.

Gravatar I really like the new banner and the background for the left side column. I didn't notice that the font was smaller but think that the whole page will have the illusion of being bigger when it's centered. Thanks for sharing the music!

Gravatar hey thanks for the tune list! i've actually discovered lots of new music by lurking your blog - one of my new faves from the past year is bowerbirds whom i heared first here! alas - i guess my taste has improved, as i already have about 90% of the albums on this list!! good taste!

Gravatar I think it looks great. (I'm using Camino.)

Gravatar New banner is awesome, and the font seems to be the same (sadly, I must use Internet Explorer at work).

Great list. I always love hearing other people speak well of Menomena. I've seen them more than a few times, they put on a fab show, and they're the nicest guys. I hope more people will buy their record because of your list.

Gravatar If you ever are in New York and need to come up to Boston, or vice versa, the Chinatown bus (Fung Wah Bus) is totally the way to go. It's very cheap, and only occasionally catches fire.

Gravatar I too should say thank you for causing me to introduce Feist to my 3 year old. She loves her! Everytime we get in the car, all she wants to hear is the "When I was a young girl" song from the Let it Die album. Her favorite line is "And I'm bound to die". Heavy drinking and death apparently are really appealing to the toddler set.

Gravatar Seems like everybody loves Feist. She's awesome.

Gravatar I like the redesign. It is fresh. I'm not sure about the font size complaint, but maybe it is related to how much brighter the page seems? It does kind of make me blink.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Gravatar Of Montreal would be on my list. And if you haven't already, download Elvis Perkins' "While You were Sleeping" and "All the Night Without Love" ... Two of the most amazing songs of the year, me thinks. Plus, Perkins has the best look of any singer-songwriter I've seen in a while. John Lennon meets Archer Prewitt with a beard. Solid.

Gravatar Thanks for the music suggestions. As always, I'm hopelessly out of the loop and have only heard of a couple of these bands.

As for the redesign, yesterday when I came by it was fine, but today there is a stupid Wii add over your banner. Something's wrong there. (I'm on Mac Safari.)

Gravatar I'm not really a music person, so I usually rely on other people to find good stuff for me rather than looking for it myself. So, well, thanks!

I really like the new look except that I generally can't see the banner - the wandering Wii ad covers it up and it will not go away.

And, also, how is Wood? Isn't she due soon (few weeks? month?). I don't even know you guys and I'm excited about the baby. No wonder my husband thinks I'm mental.

Gravatar thanks guys. did a temporary fix on the wii ad. it will be coming back, though, sorry ad-haters.

and Wood is SO pregnant. I will try to get her to write about it this week. I may have something to say about it soon, too.

Gravatar yay new site! yay new music!

Gravatar Hey, I love the new site design.

Give us more updates!
You can't possibly still be hungover.

Gravatar Feist rules... but what's with the ads?

Gravatar I'm not a general ad-hater, only when they interfere with the blog.

Does Wood have any feelings whether she'll be early or not? I think I'm going to be early, but I don't know how much of that 'intuition' is just wishful thinking.

Gravatar Pfft, ads shmads. I wouldn't come to your house and tell you to remove your fluffy pink pillows from your couch, so why would I tell you to get rid of ads on your own blog? I'm more excited to see what you will name the baby.

I'm not even kidding.

Gravatar Sorry that my first comment ever is a negative one, but I don't think the blue date font works on that busy background (left bar) using Firefox.

Also, its a shame that the rich list of labels has been reduced to Television, Books, Music, I enjoyed browsing the archives by topic when I first discovered the blog.

Other than that, love the blog!

Cheers,

Marc

Gravatar Great picks across the board (again). Good to see Bishop Allen reappear, too. I'll have to check out New Ruins, and while I'm at it Happy New Year.

Gravatar My husband and I used to be avid music listeners before parenthood, and really sought out new and relatively obscure music. I am not as active in our present-day hunt, but I have to recommend my favorite album of the year. Actually, I don't know the name of the album, but it the latest release by Band of Horses, and it is phenomenal.

Gravatar totally unrelated, but you might be interested to know that there are forthcoming eames stamps !

Gravatar First thank you for listing music I've been starved lately, and this is sustenance.

annnd I love the Lone Wolf and Cub reference on your banner, I'm still only about half way through the movies, perfect!

Gravatar I have honestly been meaning to steal this idea of 10 best albums/songs of 2007 from you and do it on my own blog, but haven't gotten around to it (or much of anything lately). The Bishop Allen album was #1 on my list. I listen to it literally every day. I just keep coming back to it and loving it so much. My son loves the Chinatown bus song, too - the part about "his fingers and his palms", my husband loves Flight whatever # it is (it makes me cry, it's so gorgeous), and we all love the birthday song and yell out the "NOBODY" part together every time we listen to it.

I have to try Feist, now, because I love Chan Marshall - and, really, I've talked to her and my husband hung out with her at a party and she's a really cool chick, she's gotten her shit together a lot, too. Plus her new album is heartbreakingly gorgeous.

Gravatar Nice list, Thanks for sharing. I love Menomena's packaging design--amazing. I agree with Sarah a few comments back. Band of Horses - 'Cease to Begin'(sub pop) is definitely in my top 5.

Also, if you haven't already, give a listen to The Avett Brothers - 'Emotionalism' (Ramseur). LCD Soundsystem, The Shins, The National, Beirut, Jose Gonzalez, Andrew Bird, maybe even Wilco's latest would all knock Feist off my list, but that's just me. 1,2,3,4 too many commercials.

Gravatar Thanks for this list. I rely on the hip to help my hipness rise a few notches.

Gravatar I'm glad to see Okkervil River topping your list, they're excellent and so is this compilation. Thank you!

Gravatar good list...have you heard any of andrew birds music or bonnie prince billy?
