I can definitely identify with the weird feeling upon coming home from a foreign country and having months of experiences that are NOT in common at all with those of your family.
There was also the weirdness of no longer being in anyone's schedule. At home I wasn't on the chore rotation, I didn't have any commitments, I just stayed home watching everyone bustle around with nothing on my own schedule. After I came home, it took me a couple of weeks to re-connect with friends because they had adapted to my not being around and they now all hung out with other friends etc.
Within a couple weeks I was looking for a job, had reconnected with friends etc. but at it first it was really, really strange.

It felt really weird coming home after 5 months. It felt like everything had changed except me, but it was probably me that changed and not everything else.

Even though my out of country experience was brief, 6 weeks, the effect was tremendous and I no longer felt comfortable in all the opulance of the USA. Most of our poor are not, compared to the poor in other parts of the world.
Glad you are back!!!
