I am just like you in the zero baby experience. I don't know what to do with a baby when one is presented to me, which is rare. Sounds like you did an excellent job despite your lack of experience.
Those are cute S & P shakers. They remind me of the countertops that are made out of recycled glass such as Vetrazzo- http://www.vetrazzo.com.
There are other brands that do the same thing; it is a pretty neat look, I think.
Good for you--you clearly did very well there. I have no experience myself, and I certainly couldn't even begin to hope that things would turn out that way, let me tell you.

Well sounds like you would do what ant new mom would do because after akk babies unfortunately do not come with manuals. That hesitancy and nervousness is natural but it sounds as if you handled it like a pro. Wooo hooo..you deserve a maragrita!
yeah, i have no idea what to do when i'm holding my nephew and he starts to cry either. i look at him helplessly and say, "please stop crying." am i going to make a great mom or what?
