Comments for Battle of Ontario....

Hat tip to alfieismymancrush on that one for the breakdown & Darren (Silver Seven) for the Torstar link.

I belive the error may have come from DJ's stats using the "adjusted assists" method whereby assists awarded in one rink are not the same as those awarded in another.

That is the funniest comment I've read in ages. Truly a classic.

Thanks Anshu!

Btw, all, I felt the need to spice up the post after the jump.

I now have to wonder what the record is for most OT/SO losses in a row. I did a quick check and it looks like the most in a season since the rule change is 18.

The Leafs are clearly on pace to eclipse that number. Maybe by the end of November.

King Kessel with 10 shots in his debut. Jason Blake is about to get very, very, very greedy.

10 shots and a -1. Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day. Or 40 years?

Its looking like the leafs will need somewhere between 8 and 11 PPs to win a game. 7 PPs doesn't seem to be quite enough.

Looks like 8 PPs per game isn't enough.....

Keep your head up princess.....

Gravatar That was a nice hit. Laff fans should count their lucky stars their new Jesus wasn't Scuderi'ed ...

Keep your head up Lo Fasz ...

Gravatar Well THM, you nearly blew a nut writing that post. You at least have some burst veins in your eye!

If you recall I named my source. I just went back to it and the fuckers have changed their facts to indeed read 22 assists. Yesterday it read 6. I checked it twice, because I found it so incredibly low. Here is the story anyway, you can believe me or not believe me but they changed it since yesterday...

Well, sometimes you get caught with your pants down.

What can I say?

As far as Phil Kessel, that hit scared the shit out of me, as I sat there in the 10th row in Boston's end of the ice (ya!). I had to get on the phone with my brother to find out Kessel had a little cut on his lip. There was an exchange between him and Wilson that had them both chuckling. Kessel didn't miss a shift.

The crowd went nuts when they showed him fine and dandy sitting on the bench.

The good news is that the hit didn't deter Kessel from attacking the Tampa zone shift after shift. He was an absolute pleasure to watch. Always something happening when he was on the ice and he was by a long shot the fastest player on either team. I think him and Stalberg and Bozak should be on a line together at some point, because Bozak's hockey IQ along with Stalberg's size and speed seems like a good combination.

Kessel clearly needs a few games and he'll start burying some of those shots. He was visibly pissed off everytime he didn't score and you have to love a guy who makes no excuses after his first game and was in the papers this morning being pretty hard on himself for not scoring a goal.

Can't wait to see him play in Chicago next Friday. Me and a buddy will be the two drunk guys in Kessel jerseys that they show after every Leaf goal (hopefully they can score a few).

These OT losses have to stop at some point, but shit, at least we're getting some points. If not for some of those single points, we would still be in sole position of last place. At least we're getting something, and Gustavsson and the D were sparkling last night except Gustavsson's one horrible clearing attempt.

Lots to be positive about.

Nah, no strain involved. Certainly none like waiting hours to return from Oakville to tell everyone to STFU about Savard

The good news is that the hit didn't deter Kessel from attacking the Tampa zone shift after shift.

Yeah, you'd hope that his first game back from an extended injury and first game in front of Leaf Nation as a homer he'd be eager to prove himself. You think he's going to perform the same way after the 10th time he gets hit like that?

Always something happening when he was on the ice and he was by a long shot the fastest player on either team.

Ibid.

Gravatar Savard, btw, will be centering Kovalev & Fisher next year.

I would love to see Murray spend $7M on Savard and not acquire a stud d-man. That wouldn't surprise me in the least, although the Sens cap situation will need quite a bit of massaging to sign anybody next summer.

Gravatar I would love to see Murray spend $7M on Savard and not acquire a stud d-man.

Let's flashback to a revisionist August:

I would love to see Burke spend $27M on Kessel and not acquire a stud d-man.

(please send me in to Spezza giggles by calling Komisarek a stud d-man).

Gravatar We already had a stud D-Man. Ever heard of a guy named Thomas Kaberle? Leading scoring D-man in the National Hockey League, future Norris trophy winner...

Gravatar Ok, so he's a winger who keeps out of the offensive zone.

Your Kaberle is to defensemen as our Volchenkov is to centres.

This is what I call a win-win situation. Leaf fans are thrilled and Kessel is named 3rd star of the game according to NHL.com.

Sens fans are happy because Kessel had 0 goals, 0 assists and was -1 on the night, despite sucking up 24 minutes of premium ice time.

If only all the games this year would work out this way, both sides of the BoO would be happy.

Gravatar Can you really be happy if the other side is happy Anshu? How very liberal of you
