Comments for Battle of Ontario....

I haven't watched many Sens games this year. You guys are right, this is really enjoyable!

Gravatar I don't get to see many Sens games at all being out west... no a-train or spezza so not surprised by the outcome. At least the Sens are still applying pressure

Gravatar Especially when "the guy you traded Heatley for" just missed on a breakaway against Mike Smith and his sub .900 %. Right DC?

Don't know. I'm flicking back and forth with the World Series.

But the a couple in the 3rd, the Sens aren't mailing it in even though this one was over 10 when Stamkos scored the 4th.

Mike Smith's soon to be above .900 save percentage.

Maybe the Sens can pot a 3rd one before this one is out so your guy doesn't move down the list even further.

Roman Cechmanek. Too funny.

Gravatar For the record, Gustavsson has never allowed 5 goals on 27 shots.

Like somebody who just played tonight...

Gravatar Like somebody who just played tonight...

Brian Elliot played tonight and no one really thinks or has ever thought he is "friggin awesome".

Gravatar Hey that's 17 goals against for Ottawa in the last four games. That's over 4 goals a game. Four games that have included Nashville, Florida and Tampa.

And we're talking about Gustavsson's positioning all day?

Gravatar Brian Elliot played tonight and no one really thinks or has ever thought he is "friggin awesome".

I know it was Elliott. Just mirroring some comments back in the direction they came. Also, I call bullshit. You and lots of other Sens fans praised Elliot last year down the stretch. Should I go find some?

Gravatar Just mirroring some comments back in the direction they came.

What it this? Grade school? Don't answer that.....

Also, I call bullshit. You and lots of other Sens fans praised Elliot last year down the stretch. Should I go find some?

I'm sure there was lots of good words said for Elliot last season. He did a good job for the most part and he came in a did a good job last night against FLA. But once again, don't think you'll find too many Sens fans were had to wipe drool off their shirt or change their underwear every time Elliot's name was mentioned.

I'm sure leaf hamlet is excited at the prospect of having someone other than toskala in the nets but this is the fucking NHL not some 40 game weekend sched of a league that is little more than figure skating with a puck and lots of spearing.

Gravatar And ugly fucking uniforms.

Gravatar Wow Muppet, talking smack when our top defensive defenceman (a concept foreign to the Leafs I guess) and #1 centre (another concept foreign to Toronto) are out and in the second of back-to-back games the team comes out flat and loses.

Yep we lost, but it could be worse, we could only have one win. And no first round draft picks for the foreseeable future.

Gravatar You see what you made me do Muppet? I took a pot shot at the Leafs...thanks...

Gravatar Picard is the new Corvo.

Gravatar Picard is the new Corvo.

And Lee might be the new Preissing. The way Downie moved him off the puck to start the play that ended up in the 2nd TB goal didn't do his career any favors.

Gravatar Picard is the new Corvo. And Lee might be the new Preissing.

That would be, IMO, awesome. But I think Corvo is better at handling the puck and skates a little faster than Picard. Defensively, they're probably a wash.

I don't think Lee has found his game yet, so isn't nearly as good as Preissing was when he was here.

Given the offensive bias of the defence overall, the Sens are always gonna be in tough when one of their shut-down guys gets hurt. But I think the bigger gap was up front. Spezza has been playing so well this year, this was just not the same team with him out. I hope that back injury isn't a bigger problem...

Gravatar I think the ship sailed on Lee becoming the 1-2 defenceman Ottawa first hoped he would be, then sailed on the 3-4 defenceman they figured he'd end up, and now seems to have sailed on his ability to play in the NHL. I wonder what the trade value is on a Lee / Picard package?

Gravatar now seems to have sailed on his ability to play in the NHL

He did look good when he first played with the team at the end of the season two seasons ago. Based on that, I'm not sure its just an ability thing, but maybe more about confidence.

There's been enough coaching changes, so I'm assuming that's not the problem (like it perhaps was for Penner in Edm).

I'm not quite willing to give up on Lee yet, but I am starting to think for his sake he might be better off in a new environment with a new organization. Unless there's a significant turnaround, this has to be his last season with the Senators organization, I would think.

Gravatar He did look good when he first played with the team at the end of the season two seasons ago. Based on that, I'm not sure its just an ability thing, but maybe more about confidence.

But since then the Sens have added similiar players in Picard and Campoli and while they may not be all that much better than Lee, they are not any worse.

Lee doesn't appear to do anything particularly bad but he doesn't do anything particularly well either. As a guy who was drafted by Muckler, Lee needs to give Murray a reason to keep him over Picard or Campoli.

I suspect Murray will trade Lee to a team that probably won't make the playoffs this year and give Lee the opportunity to crack a different roster.
