Gravatar What happened to the next Carey Price, Justin Pogge?

Gravatar The next Paul Maurice decided to go with Clemmensen against all logic.

Gravatar That's a good question Don. He's still just 22, and just had his best season of pro hockey this regular season. Why not play him?

Perhaps with Toskala around they've decided to really take their time with him. You know, so he doesn't end up fucked in the head, like Emery.

Or it could be that they want to ensure there isn't a drop of entitlement left in him by the time he reaches the NHL, so he doesn't think he's owed something. You know, like Emery.

Or maybe coach Gilbert wants to win the Calder and sees Clemensson as the best chance of that and has decided a win-at-all-costs mentality is a better philosophy that playing yo-yo with your goaltenders and destroying your whole team in the process. You know, like Ottawa.

Gravatar Oh, and by the way the Marlies won. So whatever they're doing down there, it's working!

Gravatar So whatever they're doing down there, it's working!

Bringing down NHL'ers to try and delude Leafs fans into thinking the future is bright? Sure sounds like it's working!

But if your team's future is a 31yr old goaltender whose averaged 4.6 NHL games per season over the last 6 seasons, a 33 year old winger and Kris Newbury (2yrs younger than Fish, with rouglhy 1/10th as many NHL games), I've got news for you:

There is no future.

Gravatar You're forgetting the entire first line not in the line-up (Earl, Boyce, Williams), as well as Stralman who's future is so dim that he's playing on the Swedish National team. Tlusty is also down there, you missed him.

Also, since you're a dedicated fan of the AHL, you might have noticed that most teams have a selection of back and forth NHLers, and as we currently speak Jean-Sebastian Aubin and Scott Clemmenson share the playoff lead with 8 wins.

What? The Anaheim Ducks have a vet goaltender on THEIR AHL team? Gasp!

Either way, better than having an AHL goaltender on your NHL team making $3.2M a year to not even play. Hello Ray Emery!

Gravatar I mentioned the exact same three players you praised in the OP.

You think the Anaheim Ducks are patting themselves on the back for their AHL performance? Really? I think they're praying to god Kunitz and Getzlaf playing for Canada (and others) don't get hurt. Much like Ottawa, I'd add.

How's the senior rec league doing? Are Leafs dominating that one too? Did Domi lay out a 95yr old last night?

Gravatar I get it. Binghampton aren't in the playoffs so the AHL doesn't matter now.

Just like the Finals™ is the NHL benchmark because Ottawa got there once.

I'm on to you.

Gravatar Really? I think they're praying to god Kunitz and Getzlaf playing for Canada (and others) don't get hurt. Much like Ottawa, I'd add.

Is Spezza even playing anymore?

Also, you do realize that Toronto have more players in the World's than Ottawa right?

Gravatar Really? I thought they were all in the AHL/senior rec league/weekly shuffleboard tournament. I sure as shit didn't see any on Team Canada.

Gravatar You miss a lot of things Gee.

Gravatar Too true.

Time to start paying more attention to team Solveniakia I guess so I can see the 'Next Great Leaf'(TM) get embarrassed.

Gravatar Stralman, Kaberle and Kubina are there, and Sundin refused. Washington don't have anybody on team Canada either. Guess Ovenchkin will go unnoticed?

Gravatar Time to start paying more attention to team Solveniakia

Sweden and Czech. Two teams who have handed Canada our asses a few times in recent years.

Hopefully not this year.

Gravatar Stralman, Kaberle and Kubina are there, and Sundin refused.

That sounds about right. (scoff)

Gravatar That sounds about right. (scoff)

What about Afraidsson, or did he even get the call after his latest disappearing act?

Gravatar Nice. So you want the argument to become Alfredsson vs. Blue Oyster Boy? Well done.

Listen, not all captains have so little interest in working towards a cup as yours. Plus he has a nice big family to take care off.

Not everyone can have all the free time Mats does to don tights, make commercials and find women who don't mind playing along for the press.

Gravatar Actually, Kubina's not on the roster. I guess he declined? I know he was definitely asked.

Kaberle has 10 points at the tourney. Good for 2nd place, tied with Nash.

Stralman has played 5 games, averaging 15:59 minutes, and has 2 goals and an assist. If they get knocked out maybe he can join the Marlies for the finals.

Is anybody other than Gee reading this?

Gravatar Well I'm enjoying it Mupps.

Gravatar Well I'm enjoying it Mupps.

It's our show.

Gravatar Is anybody other than Gee reading this?

It's hard to get worked up over AHL'ers doing Denis Hamel imitations, backup goalies and how well Sven, Olga, Petr and Miikiineninen are doing in the WHC pool.

Leafs suck.

Gravatar and how well Sven, Olga, Petr and Miikiineninen are doing in the WHC pool.

We can talk about Spezza and his inspiring WHC play, if you would prefer?

Gravatar ...Washington don't have anybody on team Canada either. Guess Ovenchkin will go unnoticed?

Mike Green

Gravatar My mistake.

Either way, great players are great players, and if your hockey club has a few guys playing on top countries teams, it's a good thing.

On the flip side, Ottawa has two players on team Canada, but only one doing anything. Although I read that Spezza will take Staal's spot on the 2nd line. So if Canada loses to Norway, it will be Spezza's fault.

Gravatar Agreed, just as it has been Sundin's fault for missing the playoffs 3 years running.

Man those leafs suck!

Gravatar Man those leafs suck!

That would hurt, if you were not an Ottawa fan.

Gravatar I see.
One should never address a leaf fan as "man".

Boy those leafs suck!
