Question to Leaf fans:

Why didn't Gustavsson play last night? One would think Wilson would put the "better" goalie in against the hated opposition in a heritage game.

Perhaps you've noticed but almost every NHL team plays their back-up in back to back situations. Especially early in the season. Wilson obviously has more respect for Buffalo since that's the game he put Gustavsson in net. I agree. Miller alone makes Buffalo a far bigger challenge. He's been almost lights out.

Toskala played well I thought. Definitely gave them a chance to win. Gustavsson probably could have played but a few things:
1. He did just strain a groin a while back. Why push him more than we have to?
2. In addition to point #1, Toskala needs to get some confidence. Ateam is better with a good back-up.
3. Toskala might be valuable trade bait at deadline if he's playing really well. At this point in Burke's reconfiguration of the franchise, managing assets and maximizing returns is far more important than a game in October. Especially since this team will not challenge for a Stanley Cup.

Dammit!

I forgot to put Raycroft in net on my Battle of Battle Pool team and he had a shutout. 11.50 points gone like Spezza's scoring touch...

Good to see some Leaf fans are doing well in the pool though - Kessel Run and DJ are #1 and #2. Nice work fella's!
