"Coyotes' lawyers maintain the league constitution proves the Toronto Maple Leafs hold a veto – in violation of the Canadian Competition Act – that prevents another team from moving to Hamilton".
No wonder they hate you in Steeltown

Hamilton should hate the NHL. It's the NHL who allowed a franchise to have veto on their operations. Idiots.
The Leafs veto is also, apparently, the only reason the Sens don't play at Copps as we speak. You owe Toronto Duff. Bow down and touch our feet.

Sure, if you believe everything the jockey-turned commish tries to sell you. Also, the NHL is in great shape, and there are a plethora of excellent offers for Phoenix.
Also, Gretzky is the problem in Phoenix.
Can we lose this guy already before he kills everything great about the game, drags another legendary figure through the mud when it suits his purposes, or openly broadcasts lies to people who buy equity in his league every year in one form or another? Please?

...Hamilton should hate the NHL.
Woulda shoulda coulda...
The fact is that Hamilton is sick of Toronto and its violation of the CCA.
Shitty sports teams and taxpayer funded facilities notwithstanding.
Bottom line!

Perhaps it should be Muppet and his ilk that should bow to the veto.
Could it be that Basille(sp) has inadvertantly exposed the myth of their so called "leaf nation"?
Why would any businessman spend any of his own capital to bring a product to a market that is completely loyal to a different product?...unless their was no loyalty to begin with.
Sure I like pepsi, but I'll buy a coke if that's all they got!
Perhaps we are witnessing the power of the veto that has perpetuated a myth all along.
There is no leaf nation. There is however millions of hockey fans in southern Ontario that would support another team but have no choice.
Ottawa has proven my point.
Market research has popped the bubble.
I can see why some would blame Bettman though....its much like blaming the gun for the latest shooting.
"pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"..you..stupid fucking munchkins!

Yes. It's quite obvious by games at Scotia that there are no Leaf fans left in the region! The loudest that rink ever gets during the BoO is when Afraidsson is rained down on with booing. Give us a break dude!
Once again, you're welcome Sens fans, for allowing you to keep your team in Ottawa! Keeping the rest of the country afloat is kind of what we do here.

Also, don't you think the Leafs deserve extra special power and treatment? Who do you think fills the revenue sharing cookie jar every year? Ottawa??
Fucking ungrateful, the lot of ya.

We are well aware of the idiots that cheer for the leafs in Ottawa. Some kids grow up to continuing to like pablum too.

I think I'll let that little turd of wisdom sit and steam for a while...

Then it's a facetious little turd, just for the record! I also don't think you should be grateful for the Leafs, nor that we should have any special treatment by the NHL, but I'll blame my lack of literary talent if my sarcasm isn't getting through today.
Also for the record, I love my team, I like the hockey people we have in place and the players for the most part. But the actual Pension Plan? I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. Still, in fairness, it's the NHL's fault the Leafs have a veto. Not to let MLSE off the hook but this is not surprising as far as corporate behaviour - looking out for themselves and their shareholders.
I think what would be really interesting is to know WHEN the Leafs acquired this veto, and under WHAT circumstances? What leverage did the Leafs have over the NHL to achieve this? Did they threaten to join the WHL in the 70's? Did they bail the NHL out of a financial problem or support them during one of the labour stoppages? Somebody ought to find that out... to Damien Cox's mailbag I go.
