No doubt that Kaberle is top flight offensive d-man, but can he ever win the Norris being just average defending in his own zone?
I don't think a D-man should win the Norris with only offense, but it seems like the big scoring blue liners are the ones who get all the love (and big paycheques).

And the only guy left on the Leafs with a no-trade clause.
Burke can trade anybody and everybody except for #15. It might actually be the best thing because Burke almost traded him once already... glad he didn't. What a bargain at $4.250M. Even more than Afraidsson who is (choking back puke here) also a bargain by NHL standards.
Who negotiated Afraidsson's contract was it Muckler or Murray?

I think Muckler had Alfie on a super-cheap contract, then Murray bought out the remainder and re-signed him at his current contract. That's why I believe we still show two cap-hits for Alfie - his current contract plus the buyout.

Don't forget that Alfredsson also offered to renegotiate his contract under the salary cap in order to enable Mucks to sign Sens UFAs to better contracts to keep the team together.
That's how a Captain behaves.

That's how a Captain behaves.
And is one of the reason's he's regarded so highly by fans in this city.
Alfie has demonstrated he's about more than just himself - he values the team, the fans and the community. A rarity in professional sports these days...
