I have always respected your entries on this blog, and enjoyed reading about Governor Palin. If she is indeed the women you claim her to be, you would think it wouldn't be too long before she started packing her bags for DC. Any political party with an ounce of foresight would see the handwriting on the wall.....
As it is becoming increasingly more evident that Sen. McCain will be getting the nod for the Republican candidate for President, are you proposing a McCalin/Palin ticket?

From what has been written by Blackfoot I think Governor Palin would probably rather hang out in Alaska!
But she would be a classier act than was Geraldine Ferraro for the first stab in the dark at introduing a female VP running mate on the ticket. Remember the horror of that whole thing? smile
I would like to see Palin serve 2 terms as governor before moving on to D.C., assuming she will get the vote again in 2010. I believe she is highly ethical, but could use a bit more experience. It might also be better timing for her personally, as she could raise her family before having to spend so much time on the other coast.

I know, and have known, many mentally-challenged people who have generous amounts of intelligence. The use of derogatory terms for any portion of the population tends to reveal the user’s limitations. I’ll leave it at that.
To answer your question, I think what Palin gives our state is a government we can watch in action. Palin saw a problem with the way our great state was being run, and stepped up to serve us in a more ethical way. So far, I have not heard of Palin dodging questions from reporters, or refusing to talk to a particular reporter, as Murkowski did. I appreciate the flow of information from the governor’s office. If you are distracted by Palin’s physical appearance, I suggest you close your eyes when listening to her next news conference.
Speaking to the National Press Club on February 8, 2008, on the topic of “Coast Guard Modernization”, the Coast Guard Commandant, Admiral Thad Allen said this: “No organization is ever going to go for any length of time without having problems, but I know of no other way to handle a tough situation than transparency.”
There has never been a elected official in the history of our country who has had a 100% approval rating. While I don’t rely heavily on polls, they are sometimes very telling. Palin’s approval rating has often been in the mid-90s to high-80s percentile. Governor Crist from Florida recently rated at 73% approval; Governor Corzine from New Jersey recently rated at 44%. If there are residents from other states who could give us an idea of how well their governors are serving them, please fill us in.
When Frank Murkowski’s approval rating reached 20% in the summer of 2006, he took out a full-page ad in the Juneau Empire and the Anchorage Daily News. Part of it stated: “I agree. I admit it. I’m a long, long way from perfect. At one time or another I’ve made the whole state mad at me. Maybe I should consider a personality transplant.”
We voters considered it, and replaced him with Palin.
I must smugly admit that I am the anonymous post of 2/7/08 who dreamed of a McCain/Palin ticket. If anything has restored my faith in Senator McCain it is that he has chosen Gov. Palin in the VP spot. His choise denotes a fresh approach to politics as usual; it also stops the Dems dead in their tracks.
We've got a legitimate election, folks. Both parties WILL change Washington, but the total package of the McCain/Palin ticket is the type of change I prefer.
Kudos to Ms. Swofford for her foresight so many months ago to feature Ms. Palin on the blog.

As i understand it, Gov Palin has her own little scandal. Something about someone on her staff trying to get the Gov. soon to be ex brother-in-law, a state trooper fired.
I also understand that the Business As Usual crowd are less than enamored of the former Miss Alaska's reforming ways. Is there any possibility at all that this was a political deal to get her out of office?

Blackfoot called it early on as the only logical choice, a bold choice for V.P. candidate. As such, the town of Wasilla has been vacated by Blackfoot, who has taken off to go salmon fishing, for obvious reasons.

Thank you, Tammy, for posting \"My Guv\" again. As you can imagine, we 49th Staters are happy for this wise choice by McCain and this self-sacrifice by our Good Governor, Sarah Palin. She is a true patriot.
2cups, you will get to know Palin better over the next month. I think she will change alot of naysayers' minds about her lack of experience. I'm glad to know she has your support.
Tom, the investigation will surely be concluded by November 4. If she's faultless, as I'm guessing she is, will you vote the Republican ticket? I didn't think so.
