I can recommend Tracks (http://rousette.org.uk/projects/news/32/tracks-
104-is-here-at-last). I've been using it myself for quite some time and the latest version is much improved.
It's very easy to setup on macs, it can now be downloaded and used almost directly. It can use sqlite (comes with OS X). And even though it requires Rails, it comes bundled with all the Ruby gems it needs and can run using the ruby that comes with OS X.
Using sqlite it is also very easy to move the whole system from one place to another, you just sync the file. (Or use a database server you set up somewhere, but that is a bit harder to do).

• Backpack will probably do multi-lists in their API soon, they've been hinting around lately in their forums. This will change the mobile as well as Dashboard behavior, if-i-understand-it-correctly.
• Re: "However, given the kind of things I do, I'll be damned if I'll ever add any work-related information to it - besides the usual "must check meeting schedule for project X" reminders I tend to add via my phone or at the wee hours of the morning..." opt for the SSL option. http://everything.basecamphq.com...ives/
000294.php the same systems host backpackit.
* You could always check out Tracks, which runs on Rails. http://www.rousette.org.uk/proje...ts/screenshots/

I develop a simple GTD oriented project/task/contact tracker in FileMaker Pro:
http://macproductive.com/
ActionT...iontracker.html
Can easily be web enabled for access with a web browser and can be shared over a local network as well. Sharing requires that you have Filemaker 7 or 8. Alternatively you can download a stand-alone, runtime version for Mac or Windows (Windows version later this week) though it cannot be shared via web or network.
It's freeware.

Have you seen this?
http://www.tasktoy.com/index_html
The creator has been making noise about Open Source-ing the code to it. And it seems like if you email him, he'll send you the code to use on your personal server so you can put work details into it.
