Theoretically, you could use a service called FeedYes.com to create a feed on sites that don't have one. It basically scrapes on together for you. But it's not all that reliable.

I hear ya on the Google Reader scene. It's very useful for blogs that update infrequently. Whenever they get around to writing something, it just shows up.

Thanks for the comment. Coincidentally, I'd set up FeedYes for one of those non-RSS blogs a while ago, and it appears to be semi-usable. The setup was kind of a pain in the neck, though.
