Good to see someone else is enjoying wcsn's coverage. Are you as fed up with the terrible announcing as I am? if you get to the feed early, sometimes they don't have that silly guy talking over it and you can just enjoy the crowd noise.
I think that announcing a cross country skiing event is harder than one might thingk; but I think we could do better.
Oh, man. That announcer is abysmal. All he does is repeat the racers' names, ages, and countries about six times. I think all the time that I could do better with a few screens of FIS information on one monitor and the live feed on the other. Plus my fantasy-league-leading insights into the nature of XC ski racing, of course.
On the plus side, only one of the Falun races had any announcing, I think - the others were just ambient stadium noise, like insane cheering when Soedergren attacked.
Linnea and I make quite a sport of mocking him while watching.
"Kuitenen.... the 27 year old .... Finnish Lady .... Tour de Ski silver medal .... double poling .... followed by... Justyna 'Kowlchuck' ... the Pole... 25 years old ... on this ... beautiful...day"
the highlight for me this year was when he thought that the small final was in fact half of the final, and that its finish time determined which one was the 'real' final.
It was in Rybinsk if you didn't catch it. It's hilarious.
